Is anyone else watching Despatches about ageism in the recruitment world?

As one of the older people in our flylady community I am becoming seriously depressed :(

But, rubbish has been despatched to the extra bin space so there are no bin lids open and no extra bags on the side :D

  • Thanks all...right positive steps....

Have just been skyp'ing with hubby and we've agreed that we'll stump up the extra money to be packed up by the removal co so that takes a huge amount of pressure off.

That means that I can focus on getting things into the places that they ought (weeks worth of work on its own I'm afraid ) and starting to get things clean so that we don't pay most of our deposit to the landlord because of the state of the place.

Right...of to clean, I've got to do the cooker now as I gave it a spray earlier so it needs to be done, but I'll take the very good advice and stop obsessing about it and move on to something else.

Supper eaten... sausage casserole (with flageolet & borlotti beans, carrot, cabbage, red pepper, yellow pepper, leeks, onions, rice & pearl barley) with broccoli. The rest has beed divided up into pots with the sausages in one and the bean mix in others, so some of it will be put back together as casserole, and some of it will be frozen and turned into soup!

A bit more flying done... suppose I should get the hoover out and do the whole of downstairs so that I can make a start on tomorrow ;) I won't be mopping floors I have some time at home during the day and can switch the heating off and open the windows. Two chocolate coins according to my 5yo (one each for him and his little brother apparently :rotfl: ). Good job I bought 8 bags reduced to 25p each in Aldi.

It isn't that far for me, (Leics end of the A50) just not had time to go yet. I want some fabric to re-cover the late victorian chaise longue I got from e-bay last year. Need to decide on bedroom colours first though.

Just waiting for 7 for boys bedtime then I need to hoover, feed the animals and sort stuff for the morning.

Hugs for Denise, Nickis DD, Trikers DD, GnBs DD and anyone else who needs them.

My DD doesn't need a hug, she needs a kick up the bum for being an obstinate teenager.:rotfl: But thanks anyway.;)

MrsM - apparently lighting a match and then blowing it out gets rid of odours in a room. My OH told me that one, and I love the smell of matches.

Hugs to Nicki's and GnB's daughters - I can sympathise with how they're feeling cos I used to get tonsillitis very regularly as a child. When we moved to the UK I stopped getting it as much but now I seem to get it once a year in the summer. Basil is a natural anaesthetic so mabye some soft pasta with pesto on may help if they can stomach eating at all. Also fresh pineapple juice always helps me.

Well done Toots for looking after the locked out lady.

Feeling quite chuffed with myself cos I tried to cook something new to me (home made potato wedges) tonight and they turned out really well (I used smoked paprika that I had hanging about in the back of my cupboard). This is why I needed the silicone mat (to stop them sticking to the baking tray). OH was really impressed as he preferred them to the shop-bought ones and asked how they compare pricewise. The potato and herb part definitely works out cheaper, but they take 40 mins on Gas Mark 7, so not so economical there, although the fishfingers also cook at that temp for 12 mins, so did them both together.

Need to go and do the washing up in a minute - ooh just seen the time - MasterChef is on!

    Be back later,

Not got very far. Fuse went when I turned outside light on so no lights upstairs - managed to change the fuse wire for it to go again. Repeated exercise and then it was time to collect from beavers.

Kaz - TF brings £1 here but as it is the last and the dentist had to help it might be £2 (this will also wind up DS1 which will be fun)

Denise I hope the dentist sorts you out and that you enjoy Billy

Soappie if lots of young people achieved half of what you do then we'd all be in a better place

I'm in a CBA mood now.

  • I haven't got any scented candles. I have some normal ones in case of a power cut.

    I shall light some matches!

    Thanks!
