  • Good morning everyone and thank you for your 'welcomes'. I'm now on day 3 of SW diet and with 3 stone to lose it's going to be a hard slog but I guess many of you can identify with that. I've been really good so far (although I'm still trying to get my head around the green day, red day thing). What puzzles me is how to I count the little things like the tbsp of flour I used to thicken my veg curry or the scraping (literally) of honey I've just had on my ww danish toast?

Hi Northern_Star. Have you tried logging onto the SW website (this weeks password is onion). In the members area you can keep a food diary and this will help you keep track of sysn etc.

Just stumbled across this post thankfully as I needed some motiviation to start dieting again. Ive lost 5 stone in the past 3 years but ive put half a stone on since christmas which is my first big slip up apart from the odd couple of pounds on holidays etc. Want to lose 2 stone and that will get me down to 10 stone which would be fantastic since I was 16.5 only a few years ago. Just need to stop eating now as I literally havent stopped this year!

I tried Atkins the odd time but found the old eating less and exercising more worked the best for me. Might have a look at Slimming World tho as it seems quite popular with you guys.

Hi Thriftmonster, Northernstar & Emms :j

Thriftmonster - i too have a large amount to lose (approx. 7/8 stone), so you are amogst people who know what a daunting thought it is to get started. Unfortunately i have had a few false starts recently, hence why i am on here to read all the fantstaic tips these guys post and support they give everyone. ;) (Thanks guys - you're great :T )

Northernstar - Good luck with the photos. Just think how good you will feel going back each month to get them developed and looking slimmer each time!!! :j

Emms - congrats on the weight loss, and getting stuck in again before it gets out of hand. I lost loads of weight when i left uni (about 10 years ago), and it has gradually all come back plus more. Wished i had done something sooner, but hey ho, wishing gets me nowhere. Less food, more exercise is the way to go. Just need to keep telling my body that!!! :rotfl:

    Welcome everyone, and good luck.

I'm annoyed I dont own any scales as a diet seems a bit naff without knowing how much i am now, hence I wont know how much I have lost :s

I am on day 3 of slimming world and doing okay... I am kind of sticking to green days and have been munching quorn sausages like they are going out of fashion!!

We are currently trying to make some slimming world crisps by using a recipe i spotted on another forum that i came across whilst looking for info on SW....
Slice as many potatoes as required with a potato peeler so they are thin slices.
spray plenty of frylight onto a plate
place sliced potatoes onto the plate in a single layer
another squirt of frylight and salt to taste

put in microwave for 5 mins or until potatoes are cooked and crisp

    Easy peasy!!

I also found some good info on SW website so if anyone else is a newbie like me (to SW) and not attending meetings then take a look here....
    http://www.slimming-world.co.uk/faqs/faqs.asp

UPDATE: I am just munching these funny looking crisp things and whilst they look a little odd they taste fine! I think another attempt is in order to get the perfect method tho as mine was a bit burnt!

Why dont you go to boots to get weighed
thats what i used to do before i joined ww i chose a quiet time early mornings or sundays for me
i would never use my scales again i used to as well as boots and they both said something different so i thought mine was right until i went to ww and the boots ones were right(made me nearly one stone heavier than what i thought grrrr)
I was really down when i went on the ww scales for the first time but now its coming off slowly i feel a bit better and the support on here is great so thankyou all:D

Hi, posted a few days ago for the first time and I'm trying slimming worls. I have the book from a couple of years ago.

Got weighed today by DH and I am aiming for a 2lb weight loss every week (is this realistic.?) I'm on a red day today and hope to have green tomorrow.

I've bought the latest mag and I'll be going on the website.

I'll read up and post again. This seems like a really suportive thread.

Well done everyone who has lost and good luck to us all!!!
