hi
i have a lot to lose as well so its better just to take little steps as long as its coming off thats the main thing ive lost 161/2 so far
im on the ww plan and i did feel like giving up when i used to go with a friend and she gave up but then i thought if i dont carry on then im going to put the weight back on again plus more
so i stayed but i look at it like only a few pounds to get past that stone and into the next one then it doesnt look so bad thinking ive got lots to lose if that makes sense
but you have made the biggest step of doing something about it and the people on here really encourage you
so good luck
and as for the crying your not alone i weighed myself before my first ww meeting so i thought right i know what i weigh then got on their scales and was a stone heavier (tip if you go to a diet club only use their scales if your doing it on your own weigh only once a week )i sat and cried i felt such an idiot but people there was so nice i felt tons better so we have all been through it and everyone slips up on their diets from time to time but dont give up0 -
Hi LL and welcome along.
Firstly, you have taken agreat leap forward by coming on here for some advise and support. If you have the determination then you can do it and WILL do it.
Secondly, don't go all out for gold because it isn't good for you and you'll just pile it all back on again in no time at all. Take it easy, cut the rubbish out, take a bit of exercise, even just walk to the shops instead of driving. Lose between 2-4lbs a week and then as you start to feel better, build up the exercise.
In no time at all, you'll be feeling so much better.
Look forward to small goals, treat yourself to something after each 1/2 stone loss say.
And thirdly and most importantly, DON'T GIVE UP.
We're all here on this board to help and if you don't feel like posting in full view of everyone, you can PM me if you wish ( and that goes for anybody else too)
Are you able to join a class? (i.e SW WW) I find it very good and the support there too is very good.
In the meantime, good luck, LL, stay focused on what you want to achieve.
We're all in it together.I haven't got one!0 -
I joined ww last year and it was exactly like the 'Fat class' on Little Britain!
I lost 4 st without any trouble in 1997 (long time ago now), with sw. It took almost 2yrs to put it back on again, because I didn't think I needed it once I got to weight.
Once I got into it, it was a doodle and I even enjoyed it. So I know the plans work if you stick with them. I don't want to go to a class really and last year, when my son left home, I changed his room into a gym. It is a full size 'York workout gymnasium'. Then I collected various other bits, trampoline, weights, exercise bike, stepper, gym ball, wrist and ankle weights, the list is endless...............................and what do I do? Dust them every week! What a waste. I have no motivation to kick start. Once I've past that stage, I think I'll have the willpower. I have a bad ankle that will never repair, so use that as an excuse but its not a good one I know. I can't drive, so don't, but tend to use buses everywhere because to much weight and walking affects my bad foot. Losing weight would probably ease that pain as well.
Thankyou for your support. I have decided to 'go easy' this week, using up stuff I have, then the following week try to be stricter with what I buy in and eat.
Looking forward to it now

Ok LL, but putting it off until next week isn't a good thing as next week always turns into another and another.
My back made me lose the weight because even though I'm not terrible overweight, the extra weight really plays havoc with my back.
I think you should start as you mean to go on, you said yourself that once you got into it, it was easy etc, so try to motivate yourself. Can you go out and buy yourself a pair of jeans a size smaller or something to encourage yourself? Walk to the shop to buy them too.
There are loads of exercises that will not affect your ankle especially with a full sixe gym at your disposal.
Before we can help you, you need to help yourself and WANT to lose the weight.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but a good shove sometimes helps?
So, if you can, go out and buy yourself a nice new pair of trousers or something and aim to be wearing them by a certain date.
Come on girl, you CAN do itI haven't got one!0 -
Noooooooo, wasn't meaning I'll start the week after , as such.
Meant this week I'll cut out all the rubbish, then following week will follow a proper menu.
I'm gonna do it........................

I know I posted some why back in the post. But a little update. I have gone back down to 16st again. But I had a medical at the doctors yesterday for my LGV license, and on one section was height and weight. Okay I lost a bit of height (not worried about that) but he told me that my blood pressure was a little too high (165/85) or something like that.
Anyways, say at 16st I should be thinking off lossing some weight - I did tell him that I was 17st then went down to 15st 2lbs but cept back up due to no gym work due to the fire at my current employers and stressed out. But I can't make excuses all of the time (yet they are the truth)
Now I am starting a new job in 4 weeks time for a firm making soups for the supermarkets we get fed 3 times aweek (how good is that!) and gym membership for £10 per month IIRC. So looks like I gonna on the bandwaggon again
So to date at 03/03/06 16:30pm I weighed 16st!
Goal - I would like to lose 20kg or 3st as well (just like vodkaqueen75 above) by the summer months.
Last night I did clear out the cupboards of the cr*p and out of date stuff. It more less a kick up the back side again as I cannot get into those 34" Jeans.
So heres to my restart  (water not the booze)

Hi Michael,
Good luck in the weight loss and new job. Well done for getting rid of the cr*p, that's the best thing to do. Do you have a holiday booked for the summer months or is that just a date you've picked?
Stick to your goals and best of luckI haven't got one!0 -

Nope, no holidays - but a major big birthday bash in August 2 weeks after my 24th Birthday in which I have been told that I am going as some girls are there (nurses from the hospital) - what it was a friend I have, works at the hospital and as invited "a few" (she says) girls friends in the early twenties (like me) to come along... somehow a phone photo of me is somewhat going around up there... hummmm.
Look forward to this0 -
well you've got to look your best for that thenI haven't got one!0
