It's so straightforward my parents (& brother) all of whom have opened accounts following me (& advice here) can't believe it!

I have a High Interest Current Account, and 3 reward accounts. For the best interest rate on the HICA you need to keep the balance below £2500. So the day befor payday, or on payday depending on the balance, I log in at lunchtime, & move £1k from HICA to reward#1, then the same to reward#2 (from reward#1), then from reward#2 to reward#3. The following day all my dd's & regular savers go out & it is transferred back to the HICA, thus keeping me below the £2500 for preferential interest rate!

My dad initially went into a branch & was told he couldn't have one, as it had to be funded externally. I advised this was tosh, & showed him & mum how to apply online. Mum strangely got one even though her income is only £250p/m - just means making 4 transfers in a 5 min period & you're there!:D

I have 2 Halifax and 2 BOS reward account that I have been paying the £1000 in per month and have received my £5 for the past 3 months now.
I opened a 3rd account for both Halifax and BOS last week, and paid in my £100 to activate both accounts, but when I checked them today, 2 of my accounts now say 'NOT AVAILABLE'.
Does anyone know what this means? I'm hoping they are not going to be closed down, especially as one of them still has some of my money in it!!!!!

I vaguely remember someone said, either on this thread or one of the other Halifax Reward threads, that they'd had one of their Reward accounts closed.

i have just opened a Bank of Scotland account, i had to give all my halifax account details, so hopefully it will be accepted. i have one Halifax account at mo, so will make sure the bos one gets opened and then will try for a second Halifax one.

one thing though when i was going through the process of opening hte account it says i allready have on-line banking so would this be my Halifax on-line password etc?

Yes, if you have Halifax account, you can log on to BoS with same details.

I opened 3 x Halifax and 3 x BoS in Feb and to date have been paid out the requisite number of fivers but they wrote to me about a month ago saying that the 3 x BoS accounts would be shut down on 6/5 as the t&cs only allow 3 accounts. (My t&cs didn't but I couldn't think of a valid reason to argue the case for having 6 current accounts with them plus one old HICA!)

Unfortunately they did shut them, so I'll only be getting £15 this month. They moved the remaining balances (only £1) into the first Halifax Rewards account that I'd opened and the 3 x BoS ones now say something like 'Not Available'.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted!

I got declined for this account yesterday. The criteria must be quite high for it, considering I've been accepted for HSBC Plus with CGC and 3 sub-credit cards.

just a thought, but does it effect your credit scoring etc when you apply/have a few bank accounts,

as i was thinking of opening a hsbc bank account to get the £50 cashback
