It didn't show anything different to usual, it was just that I wasn't able to transact. Done the security check thing now and money is moving again. Not good if this is going to flag up each time though.

Any one else had the letter I got today saying they have noticed I have 5 reward accounts and only allowed max of 3 so they will be closing 2 of them? FI I have 3 halifax accounts and 2 BOS ones.

I already had 3 Halifax accounts and applied for 3 BoS ones. They went through online OK and appeared with a status of Application Decision on the online banking for a few days.

Then last week BoS sent me a letter saying that they are 'sorry that I cancelled my application for the account(s)' (which I didnt do) so it looks like they have noticed and you can now only open 3 overall rather than 3 per brand.

For crying out loud! OH has just had the same security message I got and even although he went through the phone process, his account has been suspended for 24 hours.

Yes - I got the letter today re my 4 accounts (3 Halifax, 1 BOS) and wife got the same letter re her 6 accounts. Both letters said a/cs would be closed on 6th May - remains to be seen whether they pay out the fivers for April.

    Hi all:rolleyes:
Just wanted to state very clearly that while Halifax give with one hand, they can take more away with the other hand!! The overdraft fee structure is completely different from any other account I've heard off, and from the website states that:
    If you...

    • use an arranged overdraft up to and including £2,500
    then we’ll charge you... £1 a day
    • use an arranged overdraft over £2,500
    then we’ll charge you... £2 a day
    • use an unarranged overdraft
    then we’ll charge you... £5 a day

So for the customer who uses the overdraft for as little as 4-5 days per month, any Reward is lost through these fees being taken.
I wouldn't like to be the poor chappy who sits in an unauthorised overdraft all month on this account. Fees totalling £155 per month:(:embarasse:lipsrseal!!!

So this account is perfect, so long as you never need to use the overdraft!! :T:T
    :wave:Refunding customer's bank charges since Summer '07.
:beer:Paying off 2500 personal loan next month when my Student Overdraft is cleared!! Yay!!:money:

    Me too.

I'm hoping if I cycle £1K through the accounts prior to 6/5, then they'll pay out the fivers in June as well. Got to be worth a try!

I agree with this above over the enthusiasm shown to open several Reward accounts. I have 2 now and got 2 x £5 for March, but if I use my Halifax accounts with a nil balance (as I do now there is no in-credit interest) then any payments will take me past zero and I have to spot whenever this happens by checking the balance (well!) daily. I wonder how long it will be before even I make a slip up (It only has to be -1p for five days in a month remember...)?

    The solution is simple.

Don't go overdrawn. It's not Rocket Science. Keep the account in credit and you won't be charged.

I've just been transferring money back and forward from our accounts to fulfill the £1000 pay in thing and had a message come up onscreen telling me unusual activity has been detected and they need to confirm it's actually me who is doing it. :o

They wanted to phone me now before continuing any transactions but as it's 5.30 in the morning, I didn't want the phone waking the whole house so I had to opt for 'phone me later'. Until then, my account is in limbo.

You're not doing anything daft like trying to transfer £100 20 times are you?
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
