The problem with that is the Halifax Reward Current Account doesn't pay any interest... :p

So why did they quote the bit about £6.25 then. And why did they register my details against ALL my accounts? He asked me to list ALL my accounts with them. Thoroughly confused now. :D

Oh well.....I'm covered if it matters.....and if it doesn't, no harm done.

I'm afraid you can't. It's the Reward current account which, based on all their previous T&Cs ..... looks to have been badly drafted, as regards the limit on account numbers.
I think you've misunderstood my post. The point I was making is that any other Halifax accounts you hold will not affect the number of Reward current accounts you are allowed to open. So even if you have a dozen existing Halifax accounts already, you'd still be allowed to hold three Reward current accounts.

I'm presuming it's because they didn't understand the product. As a rule, what is written in the terms and conditions always trumps what you are told by a customer service advisor.

Mmm sounds about right. :) It wouldn't be the first time I'd been misinformed.

3rd application which had been referred was accepted first thing this morning so thankfully didn't have to wait the full quoted time of 7 days to find out.

Thanks for the help btw.

Hi derrick, you should be fine in qualifying for the £5 Reward payment, it is only the initial deposit that needs to be at least £100 and kept in overnight! But, as you mentioned, you don't require the card and chequebook facilities on your accounts.

But I did not leave it in overnight!

When using the HICA I did a similar thing, some money went in, (a couple of hundred pounds), then I transferred money in and out on the same day to make up the required £1000. and always had the interest paid at the high rate.

I have also, today, received duplicate letters,(for the 2 accounts), informing me "I am pleased to confirm that we have now opened the account for you".

The say, " We will send your Visa debit card and PIN number, separately, within eight days of you having £100. in your account".
Well I had £1000. in each acc, but only for a couple of hours.

I have just spoken to the Halifax and been informed that to activate the account £100. has to stay in overnight, £1000 has to be deposited, (not all in one lump), each month to trigger the reward.
I was told that I could not have more than 1 Reward acc, I informed her that Halifax T&Cs permit 3, she checked with a manager and then said that I was correct but that the T&CS stated that the Reward acc had to be the main banking acc, (anyone aware of this?), and that anyone abusing it would have the acc withdrawn. Her manager also told her that Halifax is aware of multiple acc openings to receive multiple rewards, and that the system would eventually pick up on this and stop issuing rewards on accs that do not fulfill their T&Cs and that are seen to just be moving money in and out.

I think it goes without saying that they will eventually cotton on to people who move money around to get several reward payments, but the terms and conditions do currently allow you to have 3 accounts, and they don't currently require that any of them are your "main account". Neither is there any requirement on where the £1000 monthly deposit has to come from. I would be very surprised if within 6 months something hasn't changed, whether that's adjusting the terms to make it more difficult, just closing accounts that they spot are "abusing" the bonus or changing or removing the bonus entirely.

Managed to open all 6 accounts last month and duly received my £30.00.

I'm just about to re-fund for this month and wondered if anybody definitively knew how they're judging a month?

If the £1K was credited on 23/2, is the next £1K due before or on 23/3?

(I have changed the dates to protect the not-so-innocent!)

    #447......

How did you fund and did you leave money in overnight or remove same day?

These questions have come up time and time again, you may have the answer ;)

    Thanks Derrick

I'm probably being dense but are they're defining a month as a calendar month then? So as long as £1K is paid in any time in Feb, any time in March, etc., they'll pay the £5? It doesn't make any difference what date you initially opened the account or initially funded it?

    TIA

    Correct.

Any answers to my questions re funding the account?
