Does this declining of a current account application have a detrimental affect on his credit rating?

Only in that there will be a note of a credit search on his file. They don't record whether applications are successful or not.

Well, HBoS implementation of FP is utterly 'flakey' so if its to an external accounts odds are you can't do it same day. Again, as others have said no-one knows...It's not as if they put in the T&C's 'Btw, you can transfer is straight out the same day...' give it a go and post back next month if your successfull...

Most likely at the moment is that you will have to split it into two lots of £500, and send them as separate transactions (but you should be able to do one straight after the other). Hopefully the maximum will increase past £1000 in time though!

I applied for my reward account over the phone yesterday and went into branch to fund my account no problems but i did ask them regarding how manys reward accounts your allowed to have. The reply was 1!! I mentioned in the terms you can have 3 and she explained that you can have (as example in terms) joint name ultimate reward account( which means 1 account for you and 1 account for other named) then you can have 1 reward account each equating to 3 reward accounts. I believe this to be wrong as it doesn't actually state that in the terms, so she said she would find out and get back to me so in the mean time i have only opened 1. One thing she did mention was if you try to open too many reward accounts they would automatically default to just a 'Current account' so for the people that have said there accounts come up as 'Current account' only. This could be why?
Again just going off what i have been told but doesn't necessarily mean they are right.

I think they might have rumbled what everyone's doing now, because when we queried why husband's 3rd was declined we were asked if we'd only opened 3 each to gain from the £5 from transferring the £1,000 into them. I said if they're prepared to offer the facility, then they shouldn't be surprised when people take advantage of it.

Mine said current account the day they were opened, but today (the day after opening them), they all said Reward Current Account.

I went to a H. Branch today to fund my first confirmed account, I asked how many accounts could be opened, advisor looked it up and confirmed "three", I mentioned that I had applied three times on Sunday was informed that only one was showing up, I was asked if i wanted to open another two accounts while i was there, I replied. :T

Other answers I received was perhaps best to leave the credit in over night to be on the safe side and that credits can be transferred from other Halifax accounts inc reward account - reward account. I was also told that for each account to be activated they need to each be credited with minimum 100.00 which obviously doesnt need to stay in the account.

As i say didn't think this was right what she was saying as to what is written in the terms. Just goes to show the branches have not fully understood it either. Someone is getting it wrong!!! Only time will tell me thinks!!

In cases where you've had an instant decision (i.e. not told to expect a letter in 7/14 days), has the account been active and ready to use instantly? Or have you had to wait until you've signed & returned a form received through the post?
Just to add to previous comments...
My first account was apparently active instantly and received a faster payment about 5 minutes after it was opened, but I couldn't transfer anything out at that point. The following day my transfer 'disappeared' from my statement and available balance for 24 hours, but reappeared the following day, backdated by two days ( ). Since then, I've been able to use the account normally (and my other two seem to be working fine also). So the accounts may not be fully functional from the minute you open them.
