Ive looked through all the thread and cant see what I'm looking for so I'll ask the question.
How long does the £1k have to stay in the account? Can you transfer it back out the same day as it goes in or do you have to leave it overnight or longer?
Also, I have an exisiting HICA, why can't they just change the type of account it is? Do I really have to do an application again?
Apologies if this has been confirmed somewhere.0 -

First question, I don't think anyone knows, second quesiton, yes, just ring them and get it switched over no credit check required.0 -

With regard to the 1k, some are saying in and out without even shaking it all about!
The more guarded (the type I listen to) are suggesting it will be prudent to leave the money overnight.
In truth, nobody is certain at the moment, simply because that information is not available.
As to your other point, you have choices: you can request a reward account to run alongside your existing account, request your existing account be amended to the new reward account or wait for, in the fullness of time, the Halifax to automatically amend your account.0 -

Could I suggest that, because there's lots more discussion, you read the thread again...because if you're considering going for this account you WILL benefit from doing so.0 -

There are times when I look for a "Thanks for NOTHING" button in the bottom right of each post.
I have read the thread but don't have time to re-read it all in my lunch hour, obviously you have more time on your hands.
I am going for this account, I didn't ask for advice on if it was a good idea, I only asked about the workings of the account and how much inconvenience would be involved.0 -

Well, HBoS implementation of FP is utterly 'flakey' so if its to an external accounts odds are you can't do it same day. Again, as others have said no-one knows...It's not as if they put in the T&C's 'Btw, you can transfer is straight out the same day...' give it a go and post back next month if your successfull...0 -

None - if you want to convert the existing HICA. You can ring them to do the conversion ... or call into a Branch (assuming you can tease out the amount of time you have for lunch!) You can't re-designate the existing account online.
It merely changes the status of the account. Therefore Account Number / Sort Code / Cheque book / DC / DDs / SOs / bill payments / input credits .... phew ... all remain untroubled.
Without access to their code ... no one can tell you if the £1k needs to remain overnight. Depends if they do their 'sensing' from rolled up credits at the month end (likely .... which means you could input / output same day) .... or monitor it purely in overnight Batch (less likely .... but would mean rolling the credit overnight). If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

My three applications have been accepted for the Reward Current Account, but husband's third application has been declined. Can't understand why because he has never had any outstanding bills etc. I don't even have a credit card in my name, only named on his account. Does this declining of a current account application have a detrimental affect on his credit rating?0
