The real problem here is that people are paying for Royal Mail Recorded Signed for service and they are not getting the assurance that they think they are getting. It should not be necessary to send the item via Special Delivery. Letters sent by Recorded Signed for service will take the same route as Special Delivery.

It appears that Royal Mail may be depositing these items into a PO Box, awaiting collection. Therefore, Royal Mail may not be fulfilling their duty to obtain a signature as soon as the item is deposited with the addressee. This is because they cannot be bothered to await the many signatures that they would have to obtain at a single delivery address. Their attitude is not satisfactory.

I think people should complain about this to the regulator. Here is a link to the regulator:

    http://www.postwatch.co.uk/index.asp

Also, if e2save and the like are collecting their mail only periodically from these PO Boxes, then it could be argued that they are seeking to avoid making the contractual cashback payments to customers. E2save and the like ought to incorporate it into their terms and conditions that they will accept that an item posted by Recorded Signed for service has arrived with them no later than two days, excluding Sundays, after which it was posted. The Post Office will stamp the receipt with the date. This should be acceptable as adequate and reasonable proof that an item has been sent.

I think that this is an issue for Trading Standards too.
  • I think most are getting to Wednesbury but they are either not being signed for or Royal Mail are not inputting them so they show on track or trace.

Even if it has been delivered call up Royal Mail (01752 387112 not 0845) and they will send out 12 first class stamps as the service requested has not been provided.

    See : https://www.royalmail.com/compensation
  • I'm having a problem with e2save at the moment.

I posted a recorded delivery chequeback a couple of days after I was invoiced. However they refused me saying they received the letter outside of the 30 day period I had to send it.

If they received it late it was due to a process they have in place in their office.

I went with e2save on reputation as they were part of CarphoneWarehouse, but it seems as if that counts for nothing and they'll resort to dirty tricks to avoid paying what they owe.
  • Check the delivery date on http://www.royalmail.com under track and trace
They shouldn't penalise you for it taking too long to filter through their system. But maybe it was delivered late, even then you should have proof of the date you posted it on your recorded delivery receipt

If you don't get the cashback, you would need to prove that you have sent the claim within the right period. If you have a receipt then you can prove, you have sent it.

Royal Mail are aware of the problem, i have also reorted it to them the problem is that they are delivering hundereds of recorded on a daliy basis, someone within the sorting office, has not scanned them in all of them.

Make sure you complain to Royal Mail get your £30 and complain to whoever it is "Postwatch" and we should all make a little extra out of it.

But you can be sure they will have got them and they will eventually be confirmed on the system

I would write to their director, Bobbie Bhogal and tell him that you will be starting a small claim in the County Court if he doesn't cough up within seven days. Heres his email address:

Finally got my 1st cash back from e2save on 12/3. this was what happened to me

-sent voucher and copy of airtime bill on 27/1.
-rang CS on 9/2 (not yet received), received text confirmed that they have the claims on that very evening.
-received another text on 16/2 said cheq will be sent within 14 days.
-sent email on 8/2 to queried my chq and got reply on 10/2( usual excuses)
    -received chq on 12/3

looks like you have to give them a nudge from time to time.the address I used:

    Chequeback Offers
    P.O. Box 4259
    Wednesbury
    WS10 7WZ
  • Cheers for all the good advice above, however I'm glad to say I didn't have to use any of it.

e2save came good. I complained to them via their online facility. They got back to me within 2 working days and said my cheque would be with me within 14 days.

So it's thumbs up to e2save. They made a mistake (however I make plenty of them) and rectified it quickly and without trouble. Hopefully things will be smooth from now on and I'll be able to renew with them.
