*** E2save Cashback Problems ***

Probably not. I thought it was a good practice that all the retailers are now suggesting Recorded Delivery to protect their customers - I had not clicked that if you didn't, this could be used as an automatic rejection (though there seem to be various people on these boards that say they sent by normal post and were paid out). Even worse, I had not suspected that recorded delivery would not provide the level of protection you expect (the old "proof of posting is not proof of receipt" statement now makes sense!).
However, it seems rather suspect that so many recorded delivery could go missing - Royal Mail's reputation for secure mail is taking a hammering (if letters have not been signed for, it clearly hasn't arrived at its intended destination, therefore why are we paying a premium for a service that appears from experience on here to be less reliable than normal mail?).

If you send a Recorded to a PO Box, who's going to sign?0

They do get signed for, but I don't know how or who by as all my letters to various cashback companies have been signed for 'eventually' even where I used a PO box.
However, it is my experience that recorded delivery items are more likely to go astray than regular post, I send as many as 60-80items a month and have given up on recorded. The only really secure way of posting, and I may consider it for my cashbacks in future, is to use special delivery. It's still not 100% secure, but at least it covers you for more than £30 compensation, which is all recorded pay out for.

Can you please tell me how long after you posted them did they show as delivered on the RM website and how long after did you receive the text?
Thanks.0 -
I asked Royal Mail a few months back. I was told when sending recorded delivery letters to a PO box, they will leave a 'ticket' in the PO box, then the person opening the PO box will collect the recorded delivery using the 'ticket' and track&trace will show as delivered.
So if e2save waited 2 weeks before collecting them, then you won't be able to track them for 2 weeks.0 -
I posted them 23rd Jan, got the text yesterday and they showed as delivered. I have some friends who still have not had the text or had them delivered....gaahmad wrote:Can you please tell me how long after you posted them did they show as delivered on the RM website and how long after did you receive the text?

I sent mine in on the 21st January, first class recorded,as per the instructions, and got a text message off them on 2/2/06 at 18.31 hours, saying the following:
"This is to confirm that your application for a cheque back has been received. Please allow 30 days for a response."
So it would seem all is well with my application then.

I sent mine on the 31st January and received a text on 11/02/06 at 13:24 saying that my application has been received. However, it's still showing as not delivered on the RM website!!0

All this does not give us a lot of confidence in Royal Mail. Am I right in saying the best method of sending is their guaranteed next day spec delivery which costs £3.85. OK it costs £3.85 but when each of your cashbacks can be anything up to £120 as mine are it is worth the cost?I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0
