  • Okay well I used to work in a Subway and this happened, a lot.

    1. Don't go to the meeting alone, take someone impartial in the company or someone who works there that you trust
    2. Ring the manager and say you are unhappy the meeting is taking place on a Sunday and you want to seek legal advice before doing it
    3. Write down EVERYTHING that you can remember that day, afterwards and from your knowledge cash handling procedures

As for your boss/manager. I'm presuming the meeting is with the boss not the manager? The manager or team leader on shift at the time is responsible for cash. CCTV should be above the till to see any money taken in and taken out.

This footage can be changed, my manger was able to delete bits of it so I'm sure it's possible.

So to sum it up, postpone, write down everything and anything that could be relevant and seek advice.

Subway franchises are SO badly run, and I knew that as a 16 year old. Not a fun place to work if the owner/managers are complete idiots.

Just out of interest if the police agreed could the OP not take an officer into the meetings with him?
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

Almost certainly no as most employers limit those who can attend such meetings to "workplace colleagues" and, usually, "accredited union reps". Very occasionally they will also allow solicitors to attend but the last company I did consultancy for who allowed this realised half way through that they had bitten off far more than they could chew. As a result all remaining employee contracts were changed to exclude solicitors. Not only is it likely that the employers would exclude a police officer from attending such a meeting but the officer would almost certainly exclude himself. He could hardly be classed as being impartial if he represented one side could he?

In addition to all of this not only do the police (as a body) have a poor understanding of employment law generally they find it very difficult, IME, to bend their heads around the significantly different burden of proof required given that they work to the criminal standard of "proof beyond a reasonable doubt". As previously stated, in an employment situation such as this all that is required is a "reasonable belief". There is a world of difference between them - from a legal POV.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I used to work at William Hill and due to the safe being tempremental we used to leave anything up to 10k in cash sitting in the microwave. Sounds ridiculous now but seemed normal at the time.

I can see it now.... burglars across the country heading to William Hill, straight past the safe and into the microwave!

If you've done nothing wrong (which from what I've read on this thread you haven't) you've got every reason to fight this

    Good luck Deni
