  • Morning fellow DFW'rs:j !!!

The snow is nowt but a distant memory here in sunny Southampton so it is business as usual. I was rudely woken this morning by a call from work, which is a pain on my day off but ho-hum!

MrsA2B I am so jealous of your planned hen weekend. I went to London for mine and it was ace. Even though I am very happily married, I would love to have another Hen weekend!

Anyhoo- back to today's DFW plans.

-Off to the gym in a mo to batter down my 5k time. One of my 30 things to do before I'm thirty- blog's here if anyone's interested- http://lucysthirtythings.blogspot.com/
-Will shower at the gym to use their water and heating
-Hopefully a NSD- will be the first of Feb.
    -Daily scratchies- 40p
-Two Dooyoo reviews- one done, one still to do.
    -Write next week's meaplan.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

  • I'm still contemplating moving! While not an obviuosly debt-free action to take, the house I looked at last night is actually cheaper than the flat I'm in at the moment. The developer has knocked £50K off the asking price which makes it very affordable in mortgage terms, and also puts a bit dangly attractive carrot in front of me!!!!

So, 2 bed flat in Edinburgh or 4 bed detached house outside Edinburgh with garden and garage for less money? Am I brave enough to do something?! Spent last night with a spreadsheet working out costs and if even worst case scenario with selling my place, I'm about £200 a month better off. Best case scenario, my mortgage on the new place would be less than £50K and I'd be able to put about £10K in tha bank for rainy days too!

Why am I hesitating? I suppose because things all seem to be doom and gloom at the moment and I'm more worried about sellling mine quickly than doing anything with the new place (which is a bigger place, no walls adjoing anyone else so I don't have someone else deciding whether I'm having a quiet night in or not, I get a garden, and more room for my ridiculous hoards of things, and I can make myself debt-free now, have a decent amount of money in the bank, and be £200 a month or so better off from now on.................)

    Argh decisions!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Morning everyone, not a NSD here, off to sainsburys in a min to get the bits we couldnt get yesterday but will stick to budget.

Off for lunch at relatives this afternoon, will be nice not to have to cook, but both me and OH have woke up feeling full of a cold this morning,so not really in the mood to go out, nevermind, Im sure we'll be ok once we get there.

Bathgatebuyer - that house sounds incredible. If you can do it, do it - although as PM says, do what your heart is telling you :)

MrsAudus - check this place out when you go to Dublin: http://www.arlington.ie/irish-nights.php - it's brilliant and really friendly. However when I went you didn't have to pay so I'm not sure whether you can fgo for free if you don't eat? Worth a call I would say, although €30 is still pretty cheap for a 3 course meal in Dublin anyway!

got-it-spend-it - off to subscribe to your blog now, your list is fab! Mine is here: http://poxy101.blogspot.com
  • Afternoon, got up very late today. Think my body is craving lots of sleep to get me over the mumps. Had a good time with my best mate yesterday, however I think the other side of my face is trying to swell up now.

My plan for today is nsd, already checked online banking and take it easy. Been doing way too much for someone who is ill.
Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

Hi there... congrats on your wedding plans and your choice of hen wknd is great .... but... just a word of warning save up now and save hard.. I was in dublin for a weekend in november and although i had been told it was expensive nothing could have prepared me for the shock of it! There are no chain bars allowed over there so you cant drink for free. I actually kept some of the receipts from our drinks to show my friends/family back home. The euro is awful while we were there which obviously made a difference but on average 2 vodka and oranges were coming to approx £12!!!! These were not doubles these were just standard. Also eating there was expensive too. Cigarettes were on average £ 2 more expensive than here.
So as i sais beautiful friendly lovely place but if your planning on a tipple have a few in your room first xx
