Split the Travel board as suggested above, as it is far too diverse and has far too many stickies as a result - suggest the stickies topics are given their own sub-boards, plus UK and overseas holidays should be split.
Get rid of the Argos sub-board as it is far too specific and not that busy.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Hi Martin
I have always felt that Inheritance Tax and Probate queries needs 'sorting'
The threads arrive on various boards around the forum and it's not clear (to me anyway ) where the most appropriate place is . It would be good to have them all together but there does not seem to be a 'designated area'.
It is such an important topic. It could be so useful to people who are just starting the process or indeed along the way to get advice and help .
Perhaps a sub board of Cutting Tax ? with the great long thread that I can't find but I know exists that you started as a sticky ? The thread got soooooooooo long as people just added to it and all the useful information just got lost in a blur( I felt )Without the rain you wouldn't have the rainbows !
I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left!0 -

The probate bit is tricky, of course, because what can't be offered here is definitive legal advice. But help with general questions seems to be needed a fair bit, and as you say the questions are asked on various boards.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
A 'Money in the Afterlife' sort of board? :rotfl:

I quite agree but there are a couple of very helpful and knowledgeable posters ( I am thinking of Local Hero in particular )who provide invaluable help .
If I may quote an example : recently in a long ongoing thread LH happened to mention about selling shares within 12 months of the death . If the share selling price was under that declared for IHT (and thus tax paid at that price ) then it might be worth reclaiming .It was just a suggestion by LH ...as a consequence I am now in the process of claiming back about £1700 !
Thats moneysaving!Without the rain you wouldn't have the rainbows !

All we need now is for the 'rules' to be changed to allow for an 'overseas' board. Actually the 'rules' say it is an 'England and Wales' website (presumably so it is governed by the laws of those lands?). But that doesn't stop Scottish and Northern Ireland items. We even have an 'Edinburgh' Board Guide around. So why not move the Silver Savers thread into a more prominent mainstream position. Especially as how this government is driving loads of us to flee to overseas havens.
Its the T&C's you are quoting rather than the rules and as MSE is registered in England then yes they are bound by the laws/courts of England, this however doesn't preclude me from posting or anyone else from out with England and Wales.0 -
Well, I did think there should be several extra sub-boards instead........

Or maybe leave the chat/diaries where it is, and have a sub-board for urgent debt problems. e.g. dealing with creditors, debt collectors, court action etc...........
Saying that, there is a very strong vein of opinion against breaking the board up further.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
