Just mentioned about council to DH and he dosent ant to go down the council road. He said he would rather live in his own place even if its a 2 bed maisonette :) I agree with him.
Good luck with your council applications though guys.

    Rent.................................... 875

I pay £450 for a three bedroon HA house that could easily cost £850 privately. Its more of my own home then private because they cant give my yearly/rolling contacts and notice unless I dont pay the rent or am a bad neighbour. We plan to be here along time unless circumstances change.

Why not look at this route to save costs that way savings can go towards saving for a house deposit?

Hi sugarpants, just read your opening post & I guess most of us have felt like you at some time or other. As others have said don't be too hard on yourself. Have you tried the Sun holidays, they are great if you have kids. It really does work out a cheap holiday even if the weather is bad, as most centres have indoor facilities (i.e. swimming pools, kids clubs etc.) Although some may not agree, my advice would be to give yourselves a break, especially as OH works long hours & you have your hands full looking after the kids. It will get easier as time goes by. Looking at your Lloyds loan at a guess you have no longer than a year left at paying it off. Again this is just my opinion & others may not agree, but when you've paid off loan could you maybe split half of it into paying other debts & put the other half towards treats, days out, holidays etc. We have done this & yes we may be in debt for longer, but we feel alot happier than if we put every single penny towards our debts & not enjoying life in the meantime! Good luck & keep your chin up!

Hi. I don't know how long it took to get into debt but it takes a while to get out of it again. It seems like it will only take 2 years to pay off your debt though and you seem to be paying 1/4 of your income on debts each month which is massive. Anyway maybe you need to look at the snowballer and work out whether giving yourself a break and only repaying say 250 a month on top of min repayments would add that much to your debt free date but it might stop you going mad. Anyway what I mean is you need to balance paying off debt as fast as possible with having a life as well.
Best of Luck with whatever you decide.

I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long :(

Right Sugarpants, lm with you with the want to cry thing today!!! (only joking!)
We applied for CTB back in oct but couldnt get the accounts done in time (self employed) so had to abandon it, then we got them done and re applied last week, sent in everything, accounts, sons wage slips, what colour knickers l was wearing when l filled the form in!!! etc, then they wanted proof that eldest son was at uni, so did that, phew, l thought all done BUT NO now they want accounts from april 2008 up to date, if l had the ability to do that l would'nt need the accountant!! They want reciepts, originals of course so they can photocopy them, can you imagine, we have bag fulls of petrol reciepts, materials, loads of them, SO lm going down there on monday with my carrier bags full and say shall l wait while you copy this lot! • Hi SP
My DD lives in Reading & works nights in a bank call centre, yes she is permanently knackered, but it keeps the wolf from the door.
