A 3 BED HOUSE and your gas and electric are soooo low WOW i pay 84 elec and 41 gas for a small 2bed! and that is me and 3 kids! Which leads me nicely into my suggestion - have you thought about going on your councils housing list.... I rent privately. Have been on list 1year and nearly have enough pts to get our house. It may take 3 years or more but it will be cheaper. I'm looking at going from 725mth to 400mth max!!! And that is 2 bed to 3 bed as well!
Ignore me if that sounds like rubbish lolDFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debtsJust to see which month

I just read your thread and I agree with everyone else - you are NOT a bad parent for not owning your own home/having a holiday every year/spending a fortune on your kids. When I was younger my parents weren't well off - we wore hand me downs from cousins, went on holiday for a week at the local seaside 2hours away in a holiday chalet with my grandparents (I think they paid) and we didn't have luxuries. My parents really struggled to afford anything. But I had a great childhood - they made the most of free activities and resources and the most important thing was that they spent time with me.
Pasta with cheese and beans is one of my favourite meals - and if your kids are missing Butlins you need to get creative with cheap days out - get them to bring a friend each to the local swimming pool, make a treasure hunt with local landmarks etc, library book readings, adventure walks when it's dark with torches, picnics (when it's not snowing)
With the debt you just have to keep going with it - think of it as practice for if you decide to save for a deposit/have a mortgage - you'll be great at saving if you keep going with paying off your debts. Then you'll be able to overpay a mortgage too. So this is the start of your new financial life.
Good luck and well done for getting this far :T"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0 -
Just a word of warning re Mystery shops - you will need to pay for your purchases upfront and then reclaim the money from the MS company. If cash flow is a problem now, you might find this temporarily makes things worse. It's also easy to do lots of shops because they are earning money, and forget that you end up spending money on things you don't need/wouldn't have bought ordinarily.
You can do mystery shops at banks, or a lot of telephone stores. Most don't require purchases.0 -
Hi Tigz - unfortunately I've not found a Fifi lunchbox yet, was hoping DD would be happy with my inferior lock&lock plain old lunchboxes, but reckon I won't be able to get away with it, she's as stubborn as a mule sometimes my DD (can't think who she takes after *whistles innocently*)0
