Plus I also got 2000 boots points. So I effectively got the D50 with the lens for £382 plus another £20 in points to spend in boots. Although I've forgotten to go into the store to collect them and I ordered it last Thursday evening. Does that mean I won't get the points? Because it says something about having to go into the store with 5 days to collect them.
Also, if I want a better lens eventually will I really be able to get £80 for the one that I got on ebay?
Amazing camera by the way. It feels perfect in the hand. Not too big and not too small.

I did the same thanks to this board, am going to phone boots addy card tomorrow and cheekily ask if they can double my points as I ordered at 11pm and double points kicked in at 12am, you dont get if you dont ask.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Hi there,
I also did the same thanks to this board. Had been looking for best prices since before Christmas. This is a b'day gift for o/h next week. Ended up paying such a fab price what with 20% discount, points value and going through cashback site. The money saved will go towards another lens at a later date.
Camera is fab - had read up extensively and been into Dixons for a look and feel of it.
Carl, you will get the boots points, i've used Boots a few times for online shopping and sometimes its a couple of weeks before i go into a branch to get my card updated.
Thanks all!

emujuice, When you're in macro mode doesn't the centre marker change colour to show it's focussed correctly?. I don't own one of these cameras but I would have thought the marker (shown in green below) would turn red if not in focus?. Just a thought/guess.

Thanks. I'll have a look. it might do. trouble is if you want a really close macro of a flower say, it tends to focus on the area you don't want in focus, so techncially something is in focus, but it's not necessarily what you want! also the switch between manual, continous and auto focus easily gets switched to manual, so if you're taking quick shots of people you often find they're out of focus.
will check out the red think (i'm sure i would have noticed it though).
Up on ebay at the mo, will be happy to get £200 for it (comes with some filters and lens adapter and 512mb card). only paid £260 second hand a couple of months ago. i see it as a learning thing!0 -
btw, i'm not sure it it was clear in my post, but it's the resolution of the screen and that limits whether you tell somethign is in focus or no, despite a focusing zoom. you really need it pin point on flower pics etc...0
