I always boil the water for pasta in the kettle first - it is quicker. I have a stove top kettle because I kept forgetting to make a drink when i had an electric one. (one of the joys of having a stroke ) This one you cannot ignore!
I'm still on my switching lights off and shutting doors crusade, and the kids and oh are catching on...
I have made over £70 on ebay this week selling an old mobile phone and a dress:)
I am having a not spending month, so basically nothing apart from food and bills.
From tomorrow will make a cafetiere with 2 scoops of coffee instead of 3 and just have one coffee instead of 2. Usually oh has a coffee and I have 2 but thats a bit excessive really and I can do without.
Last week I made a batch of laundry gloop, and one usually lasts a month. Even got huge stains out of kids trousers:) About 30p for a batch instead of god knows how much for washing powder.
Going to make more of an effort to have log fires as i have a cellar full of wood and 2 open fireplaces I really ought to use more.
I walked into town today saving the bus fare of between 60p to £1.10 depending on which bus you use, and got the 60p bus home.
Made a big banana cake this evening using bananas which were past their best, will do for kids' packed lunches.
The kids like cheap economy cack sliced bread so they may have that as a 'treat' for a while;) LOLMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

All my plans for economy have gone out the window this week, SS has a bad back, he twisted it playing football. He's not gone to work, so he won't get paid, so I won't get any housekeeping from him this week. The heating is on all day as he is home, usually when I come home every light is on in the house, TV is on downstairs & he's upstairs playing on his play station! Grrr.

Thank you very much - I will look at these - I love that sort of thing! Is there anything on saving on dishwasher detergent as well?0

Yes, you can use automatic washing powder (not other kinds 'cos they make too many bubbles), or you can simply cut your tablets in half so they go twice as far. Not to mention always buying them when there are offers on and stocking up.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I've looked and I've searched but can only find one old relevant post that no-one replied to.
I see a lot of you saying you will give up/cut back on wine. And a lot of you who grow your own, or intend to.
Is no-one out there making their own wine?0 -

Hiya,
I don't recall any threads about making wine at home, so if you'd like to start off a new thread about wine making I'm sure you'll get some responses.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
