Our heating is still off & the offspring are learning to dress appropriately for the weather as opposed to fashion dictate :D Guess we're lucky being a mid-terrace & having young families either side who probably have their heating on anyway ;)

I noticed a huge difference while staying over wiv me muvva last week, as she had her heating cranked up to 25  Mind, she's had a wobble what with having her first ever medical procedure--last time was when I was born in 19-cough-cough :cheesy: --& she had a catarract op. It also doesn't help that she's one of the world's biggest worry-whorts at the best of times & a Type 2 diabetic.

She is not able to claim any credit, because her & Dad struggled to survive on reduced pay packets so he could save for a pension [just DON'T get me started on THAT    ] but I am not in a position to help other than really think about all of us living in one place as opposed to running two homes. mmmm...an opinionated 84-y-o & 3x 20-somethings who all know what's best, plus a boisterous Pup & cantancerous Iggie, all under one roof....anyone want a lodger :o :rotfl:

    Just been reading this
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081106/us_nm/us_usa_food_prices;
I know its aimed at the US market but our prices seem to follow suit a few months after (well they have done so far...)
We're managing ATM because so many of the 'deals' on are for stuff we use anyway so I'm stocking up when they are on offer.

My Tesco's last week jacked the price up of caster sugar from 98p a bag to 1.23p...this time last year it was around 70p.
They do have the 2kg bags on at 1.71 though so I bought...a couple :)
Preserving sugar has also gone from 62p in June to over a pound a bag.

Ahhhh D&DD - so you're the culprit! Plenty of space on the shelf in our local Mr T where the £1.71 packs should have been!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I refused to pay £1.23 and went to Mr S round the corner, where it was 92p:D :D

Hi everyone, I thought that food prices were supposed to be going down, but I have done my shopping at Morrisons today and the prices seem to have gone up, especially on some of the value items. I'm sure that they have increasing over the last few weeks, has anyone else noticed this or is it that Morrisons is just becoming expensive?

Happytails, don't forget to check if your local authority or county council have some nappy scheme. Many do - I know in West Sussex you get £100 worth of nappies and kit - all for free.

In Tesco the Value Sweetcorn tins have gone from 20p to 28p. Value kidney beans from 11p to 18p. Bit of a high % increase
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Both Morrisons and Tesco's seem to have increased prices dramatically.
I was a bit shocked by the prices in Tesco's yesterday so didn't buy a few things. Only to find today they have also gone up in Morrisons as well. Value Pasta sauce that used to be 24 or 26p is now 36p. Value tinned tomatoes have shot up too . I'm not very good at remembering exact prices so won't quote.
So unfair for those on very low incomes to push up the prices at the bottom of the market.

Well things are definately getting tougher for me :(

It is likely (not definate but nobody can see our business lasting past Xmas) that I will be losing my little part time job - I am absolutely gutted as I love my job and the money will be very very sorely missed - its money we NEED!!!

I am going to start now as if I have already lost my job, then the transition will perhaps be easier financially.

We have a fixed mortgage rate too so we won't even benefit from the recent drop in rates so can't make it up there.

A very fed up... Frugal :(

    Frugal, that's awful.

Is there no chance of another similar job if you start looking now?

I'm sorry also to hear about your news Frugal.

Bad enough to lose a job one needs - but when its actually one that you love as well - then that makes it a lot worse - as you're losing more than just a source of income.

Hope things work out for you.
