I do this and save ribbon, curtain header tape, and all sorts of treasures for my sewing stashI have a button tin and my DD was delighted to be given mother's old button tin; it was a lovely walk down memory lane to go through it and tell her about some of the clothes - like the buttons from my mum's pretty 'duster coat' from the 60's

but how many people do you know PERSONALLY who can knit, sew, preserve, bake etc etc??
I know a bunch of people (not OSers either!) who knit, sew, bake ect ect. Saying that I'm one of those nearing end of teens girls that likes cath kidson, bakes, reads proper books, goes to national trust houses and happily thrifts for anything. We might be a small group but we do exist! But then we do all of this out of interest, not need. Like most people in the 40s did. Just wanting to put in a good word for us 'youngsters'!!
(just catching up on the past couple days. might be afew most posts from me after this!)0 -

I'm impressed with the number of young OS'ers on the boards here :T and they've much more sense than I did - took me till I was past 30 to become even reasonably sensible!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
