  • oh gosh it`s been very interesting to read about the emfs, I thought people would think I was more whacky than I am. Point taken about the induction hob ceridwen and I`ll see to that asap. I have ordered a meter because I slept all night again last night with everything in the bedroom turned off. Lol it was funny to hear my dh winding up his lantern, bless him he never moans about my whacky ways

I am getting rid of my dect phone and getting a plug in corded phone, no answerphone or anything fancy

My very large throw/blanket is finished and looks lovely, just 2/3/4 rows in stripes and was very quick in crochet. I`m very pleased with it so I have started some lap blankets in knitted squares with real wool. I put a jumper and vest on last night and stayed cosy until bed, no heating at all yet, apart from the test I did when I had a cold

errr....Kittie....they couldnt possibly think you're whackier than me ...err...could they? (<whisper> "and she looks so conventional too" - well, I've heard similar comments about myself - heh!). But - as I point out sometimes - "One doesnt get questioned much about things if one looks conventional.....:D ". (Still finding it amusing when I was walking round looking for food to forage the other day and someone came up to me and said that there had been reports of a "suspicious character" walking round and "have you seen them?" - errr...nope....for a very good reason....I didnt have a mirror on me! Heh!). When I asked them if I could be the person they were looking for the response was an astonished "Oh NO! Of course not".

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a breadmaker. I am utterly rubbish at homemade bread - I just can't do it (and I've been cruely feeding MrS the heavy, tasteless results for over a year now on and off). I can't even make it from a packet and I'm so desperate for bautiful hm bread. I'm just concerned that the outlay + running costs will be more expensive than going to the bakers once a week

Ceridwen - you're one of my top posters, almost everything you say I agree with whole heartedly

    Geee...shucks....thanks for that! <sweeps a curtsy>

I have a recipe for handmade bread on my blog (see my homepage and it will be under the "food" link - from the list of links on the right-hand side of the "page".) I've made some disastrous bread before now - but that one never fails me. Give that a try before you give up and buy a breadmaker.

Kittie, that sounds lovely, I am crocheting a blanket for my sister at the mo, in stripes. Would love to see a picture of yours. I can't say too much about mine because my sister reads this thread :hello: sis!

Folded in half widthways and brighter than it looks in the photo
70" wide and 55" long but I might make it longer, it depends how it fits on my new settee
  • lol. One of the best things about getting whacky is that you can wear hm A line skirts and very comfortable crocs one minute and cycling clothes the next and no-one bats an eyelid any more. I love it!!!

I've always been what other people call wacky(I'm told by those that know me it's the old hippy in me,that refuses to go away)I think I'm normal but then who am I to say.I know one thing I'm now at an age,53 when I could'nt care less what people think of me.Life's just too short to worry about things like that.

Funnily enough I was just thinking about this yesterday while hanging the washing out - the tree in next doors garden is heaving under the weight of berries  Guess it could be a harsh winter as there's a lot more berries than there were last year! Also guess who won't be putting their washing out to dry from now on until the berries have gone to avoid the "gifts" the birds leave

The Rowan Trees in the Western Isles have been laden with berries this year and it's meant to be a sign of a hard winter when there's lots of berries on the trees. The birds are having a field day ;)
