Yes i heard its going to be rain from mid oct -early nov, a bit brrr from then but cold crisp mornings until mid dec then snow snow and a bit more snow then properly freeze our bums off during january

Snow !, maybe we will get a white Christmas ?? not good for saving on Gas and Electric though. Typical isnt it, prices on oil nearly double and then they predict the worst winter for years, makes you wonder what connections Gordon Brown does actually have :rotfl:

and I'm carefully not saying ONE WORD about GB. that will ruin my day and put me inna mood !
  • I'm going to put my head over the parapet and say I LOVE snow too...

I wonder though if it will be that tough this winter...? Can't say my trees have been loaded with berries, the traditional sign of a hard winter. I guess the hardest winter of all WOULD have NO berries though? I've just re-read Laura Ingalls Wilder's The Long Winter...where they get snowed into the town for months and the food runs out...

I've just had my bill from E-on and although I need to double check it all, as they changed my electricity meter about a month ago...they reckon I only owe them....drum roll please.... £34.96!!! FINALLY I have got practically in credit...now I need to decide whether to change supplier!

Guess it was worth cooking in the garden on camping gas for months! The AGA is back on now though.....

    Regards

    Kate

Funnily enough I was just thinking about this yesterday while hanging the washing out - the tree in next doors garden is heaving under the weight of berries  Guess it could be a harsh winter as there's a lot more berries than there were last year! Also guess who won't be putting their washing out to dry from now on until the berries have gone to avoid the "gifts" the birds leave

Yes, know all about the berry drop! Our next door neighbour has a couple of elderberry trees in her garden and more than once I've suffered the unpleasant after-effect on my white sheets!
However, on the fruitful berries/hard winter theory, I think it's less a harbinger of a bad winter to come than the fruits of a mild spring when the flowers on these shrubs and trees weren't damaged by frost before they started to form berries. However, we didn't have much of a spring this year either, as far as I can remember, so no idea who is right!
