  • Hi All

I had the warm front grant and

despite my boiler being 10+ years old and currently wrapped in some boiler wadding stuff which i might add is secured by an old telephone cable:rolleyes: (previous tenant not us)

being only single glazed and live in a ground floor flat (2 up , 2 down and then mirroers behind us so basically we are a block of 8 but to look at my 'side' its 2 up 2 down)

plus there is damp in the kitchen, main bedroom, hallway, sons bedroom, living room and bathroom like you wouldnt believe which is not good when bf is an asthmatic.

Plus there is literally fungus GROWING on the sealent round my single glazed windows despite having them open 80% of the day and there is also that funny fungus you get when its damp (the big yellow/orange stuff) growing in my garden adn along the side fo my flat becasue its so damp

and I qualified for............cavity wall and loft insulation. dont think my upstairs neighbour would appreciate that much
    Time to find me again
  • Hi everyone, lovely to speak to you at last. Newlywed - yes i just made them up as normal, well maybe a little less water, popped them in raw and made sure they were evenly distributed throughout. I had cheap stuffing and remembered this from a chicken pie recipie i read years ago in a Delia book i read cover to cover at age 17. I am so sad! Great way to fill out a pie though and really lovely - if u like stuffing! Have to confess cheating and using Bisto Best gravy so only half OS.
Elona i wish i had your type of SC, i do think it must be a lot more versatile. Love mine and fill it to the brim but might have to generously donate it to my DD when she finally moves out and get an oval!
And Mardatha - women on the edge are allowed hatchets are they??? Right ill get one asap. Can think of many many worried people! Glad you had fun though LOL. Did give it my death stare but obviously not quite the hatchet faced old boot i think i am, so in the oven it went!

Okays....well...re the Nonny Mouse Forum...I understand M.S.E.'s decision on this and it is unfortunate that a few people have jiggered things up a bit for the rest of us shall we say.

Anyways....hope this is okays with you Tashja to do this - but see my today's entry on my blog re this (ie 10 September 2008):

  • re lighter loaf ranita, try a small vitamin c tablet crushed in with the mix. Tesco value about 60 mg size

Thanks for responding and yes I have been using white too,I think mine is a 1/4 white,I shall up that slightly and use a vitamin C tablet. Will report back with the results:p .

Sammy kaye,my place is damp too and I hate it.Seem to spend forever cleaning mouldy bits of window sills and walls by the doors and windows.I live in an old school masters house that has been split into two flats.Secondary glazing(which is rubbish) in two rooms.I have asked the letting agency what can be done to insulate the place better for winter(esp with price rises). Not heard back since:rolleyes: . Just want it a bit warmer and cosier for my 2 boys.

I didn't see that but I am aware that Warm Front contract out to local fitters, some of whom are not so reputable. There are accounts of that elsewhere on MSE. I had no choice of fitter but because our bit of town was built with warm air heating and there is only one firm locally who will touch it, mine was fitted by a company I had already knew and I can't fault them at all.

Aren't Warmfront only allowed to do 1 grant thing per house? If so then I'm sunk as we've already had one lot of work done when we first moved in here (we had heaters fitted but didn't get the rest done as the "company couldn't get in touch with me", funny how the other company had no problem at all  ) and there is no WAY I could add funds plus I'm hoping to move soon anyway! Stupid pigging government!:mad::mad:

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Going back to turkey legs. I use that instead of duck to make Chinese pancakes. It tastes very similar to duck once you've added a bit of hoisin sauce and I buy the Chinese pancakes very cheaply from the freezer in the local weigh and save. Very nice treat for us here.

    Hi all

Ok, have caught up now :)

    Ceridwen - thanks hun.

Just watching Gordon Brown now and catching up on what he is sprouting now. Thankfully we have just had loft insulation and centeral heating done on a Warmfront grant and on the 18th we are having wall insulation done - I can't fault them on the work they have done.

Suzy - Wish we had a weigh and save shop nearby - ours disappeared years ago :(

    T xx
