Hi All
Well you should know - today i brought my wellies - and jsut in the nick of time too. I was absolutely drenched walking to school this morning with my little boy and on the walk home with BF, we were splashed about 4/5 times and BF was not impressed. Told him thats what I have to go through every rainy day just to get Benji to school and he offered to buy me my wellies. Bargain. So now i will have nice warm cosy toes whilst taking little one and Bruno dog out.
Glad i have got them now as read in the paper today that its ment to do nothing but rain for a while yet, thankfully we are not prone to flooding but areas around us are. Bless bf has even found out his old camelpak - a water holding bag that you wear on your back when cycling/running etc - well his old ones has pockets in it and he wants me to take it with me when i go walking with the dog - theres a fully charged emergency mobile (some old nokia thing) with credit for emergencies, bag obviously filled with water, a small torch and a protein/carb/glucose bar which he uses when mountain biking. Bless he does care really
Am still without heating but i think that may change pretty soon as its very cold here. I am going to have a look for some nice jumpers etc either on Ebay or I'll have a scour through the charity shops on monday i think when little one is in school. Did discover last night again that I was sat by a small spotlight lamp reading and it was amazing the amount of heat it gave out.
Have also been snuggling with bf which is keeping me nice and warm too. Plus ive half mastered the gettign him dressed after a shower thing and not having him sat around in a towel complaining hes cold. Ive started sneakign in the bathroom whilst hes runnign a bath and putting his towel and pyjamas on the radiator in the bathroom for him. Then when hes getting out fo the bath hes been spotting the PJs and putting them on. I then make sure conveniently that the fleecy blanket happens to be on his chair when he gets out. Thsi seems to be working nicely at the minute - will let you know how it goes.
Right am off to sort out rest of budget and see how much i have to spend this month - hopign to get some house proofing done ont he preparing for winter thread so need to check finances.Time to find me again0 -
Reading about Sammy-Kaye's Camelpak, I just thought I'd mention that Mr LW has insisted that I have a waterproof poncho, a torch and a map of Milton Keynes in the pouch behind the seat on my mobility scooter. I can't imagine where he thinks I'm going to go on it if its bucketing with rain, but bless him, he does care about me!:AIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Lol Lamewolf
I only ever walk the dog in exactly the same place every day, 3 times a day and even if I do take the dog out, I tell my mother in law who lives at the hill above me when im going out so she knows to contact me on my mobile if she needs me - with LO starting full time school now his school amy need me and shes his second contact, and have a nephew with ADHD adn she occassionally needs me if hes having an episode - so either way she knows where I am. I also leave a note jsut in case bf gets home and wonders where me and the dog have gone so either way they'd know where to look.Time to find me again0 -

looks ok for on a gas hob (which i have) but would still like a dutch oven as you can use them on wood fires(i think??) oops just re read and omnia is too

Wonder if someone who knows about these things could say if the finances stack up though, using gas canisters as opposed to an electric cooker.

I don`t agree with free school dinners for all and tv licences for all over 65. Who on earth will pay for all this, the long suffering tax payer of course0

May I be sad and join in the tinned tomato discussion? Went to Lidl this morning and found the chopped toms were 21p per tin and the plum toms 19p (Tesco are same price so don't rush there!) My point is I bought the plum toms and chopped them in the tin with a per of scissors!!!!!!!!
Once upon a time broken things were cheaper :rotfl:
Anyone remember the old fashioned grocer's with the biscuits all in open tins and that lovely tin on the end with all the broken biscuits? They were all my mum could afford and a real lucky dip.0 -
I couldn't agree more....IMHO the Olympics is a total waste of £££ and the 'legacy' left to East London is highly unlikely to amount to anything.
I dunno about school dinners....unless Jamie O was cooking them, don't think my kids would have touched them anyway.... But bearing in mind the total rubbish on TV and the vast amount of rubbish that isn't the BBC anyway that is available via freeview, sky etc, and all funded by advertising, I think it's about time the TV licence went entirely!
My DD just had a very snarky leaflet sent out with her student stuff (she's off to uni on 21st Sept) reminding her that it is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE (Stern tones and waggy fingers) to watch TV in Halls of residence/digs/on your PC the list goes on and on, without a licence, and it's not the first she's had...methinks there must be a lot of cash to be made out of students!!!
I admit I'd miss Radio 4 (briefly) if it went down to lack of 'funding' and also the brill BBC news website....but the telly could go tomorrow if it were down to me. BBC, ITV, SKY the whole lot!
Regards

Tell your daughter and chums to be vigilant....especially if they are on campus in a hall of residence - my old university used to allow the TV licence people access to the halls, where they would go from door to door trying to catch some poor unsuspecting undergraduates watching TV on the sly.
Oh, and tell her to enjoy herself as well!0 -

"funeral fund" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: - well as someone who is single and childless......there is literally not going to be one single penny there for a funeral fund on me....I'll make sure of it....I will be leaving a fair bit....but every single last penny is to charity.......;). After a lifetime of paying out extra tax because of being single and childless.....I shall thoroughly enjoy "sitting on a cloud playing my harp" watching the Government fund a paupers funeral for me...having deliberately left every last penny as I decide!!!:T
