Oh dear sammy-kay, you aren't having much luck lately are you. Keep your chin up, things will pick up.
  • omg sammy-kaye, anyone else would have crumpled by now :grouphug:

I second that re s wales weather, it has been terrible day after day. You can smell the damp and mould when you step outside the house. Really bad gusts of wind today as well as the rain and a favourite plant holder fell down knocking over my best and most expensive prized plant pot, breaking it in half. Next dry day I am getting rid of all that remains of my summer plants, 8 troughs and pots on my patio are going to be emptied and cleaned. They look so bedraggled now and they are full of slugs. I might as well prepare for winter properly now as I don`t think there is going to be an autumn miracle

I felt a twit but I sat outside in the 10 minutes of sun that we had today. It was cold but I bared my arms to the sun to get some vitamin D. People are looking pale and pasty already and that includes me

The good news is that my blanket is growing by the day and is very economical on yarn as I have hardly made a dent in my stash. There are lots of upsides to making this: it is a mood enhancer ie calming and relaxing, it keeps the knees warm, it is cheap and it will be very useful

cheers peeps - i know im fed up of my rubbish luck i seem to be having lately - hoping something good will happen for us this year though. Wont be holding my breathe too much though to be quite honest.

Kittie - yeah the weather here is awful, the hosue is damp , ive plenty of wadhing to do but refuse to as i cant dry it - my TD seems to be playign up to - ive put towels into dry as i just cant get them dried and they are coming out wetter than they went in! Also found a big fungus growign in the garden earlier which i think is because the flat is so damp - its growing around the wall too aswell as in a large clump in the garden so i will be attacking that tomorrow before the dog ends up eating it and getting ill.

Its chucking it down here too at the minute - winds picking up (my airer in my porch jsut went flying and set teh dog off) although must ad dfor any pet board residents he seems to be maintaining wieght now ive put him on a totalyl dried food which is good as means i wont have to live int eh vets this cold season - hopign it holds out though.

AM in desperate needs of wellies but trying to jsutify spending the £10 on myself at the minute (ok so i know its not a fortune but to us it is) so heres my reasons
    • with this weather i really could use them,
    • walking little one to school i could really use them as the only ways to his school are a flooded park and then trudge on a rugby field or a flooded main road where i have to face buses and cars splashing us
    • walking the dog i could really use them as my trainers have holes in adn the only safe place ot walk him off lead is a mountain side gravel track that can get rather boggy
So do we think these are worthy reasons to warrent getting a pair? I dont spend anythgin on myself ever to the point i think i annoy my boyfriend slightly as i will rarely ask for money for myself and have asked for girly hiking boots for my christmas present :rotfl:
    Time to find me again
  • I wish I had discovered neti pots earlier in life. I have suffered from sinusitis for many many years, every time I get a cold and I spend loads on tunes, lockets, olbas oil blah blah. I was very bunged up again this time and read about neti pots. I bought the cheapest plastic one and some neti salt from here

    https://www.shopholistic.co.uk/viewcat_28.php

and it works fantastically. You just slowly pour saline solution in one nostril and it comes out of the other, cleansing on its way through and leaving a saline coating that helps the swollen sinuses to go down. I was nervous first time but you just have to relax and mouth breathe. I am so smitten with this stuff that I have bought myself a full size plastic neti pot and a big bag of salt and this is going into my standby stockpile. I can cope with anything but sinusitis is a bu**er to shift

much much cheaper than all the other stuff I was buying

Yep - neti pots are a good idea - even for just plain ordinary colds (which I rarely get these days - maybe they are scared to "come out of hiding" at the threat of this).:D I just use plain ordinary salt - perfectly okay as far as I can see.

SammyKaye - you dont have to justify those wellies any more lass. The need is quite obvious from where I'm sitting. Go get 'em - if you can find the money to! Just tell yourself "ceridwen's orders and she wont be pleased with me if I dont". Cant do you any good to get damp feet!

sammy_kaye18, I think you should get your new wellies. The money spent can be justified because if you get wet and cold feet you could end up getting ill and then you would need the heating on, therefore spending more money..

Sammy does your tumble dryer have a high and a low heat setting? Mine packed up on high a year or so ago, but works fine on the cooler one, which of course takes a little longer but does the job eventually.

No question about the wellies, you don't want foot rot do you? Can you get any off Ebay?
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Yategirl and Kittie - Thanks for the info on British Thermals. I ordered some for DH (always outside) and they came today. Lovely quality. Now had to order some for my dad. Very grateful - thanks again.

Mardatha - I remember when my kids were little I only had one pair of sandals and it snowed heavily so I had to stay in until it melted.
