The four digit code you give them is your security number not your customer number Steve.
The customer number is an 8-10 digit number that you need to enter on the first page of log in and Tesco give you this number. When you log on it asks for "Customer number part one (your date of birth - ddmmyy)" then underneath it says "Customer number part two (up to four digits)". So on the first bit you put, your birth date e.g. 010274, and the second bit are the numbers Tesco added on, e.g. 12 or 123 or 1234.0 -

I received a letter from Tesco Personal Finance today, to say my Internet Saver account has finally been opened.
But when I tried to register online, instead of being given a Customer Number, it throws me straight onto a log-in page.
I can't get through to a real live person by phone to report the problem, and none of the phone menu options are appropriate. Even if I choose an incorrect option to try to speak to someone, the first thing that happens is that I am asked to enter my Customer Number!
Anyone else having the same problem?0 -

I sent off the paperwork on 3rd Jan , the cheque was cashed on 10 Feb and I have no idea if they will take the first DD on 1st March!
well they have taken the DD but still no paperwork and cant get hold of anyone on the phone either!0 -
I applied last November to open an esaver & noticed that the cheque has finally been debited from my current account today. After reading this thread I sincerely wish I hadn't bothered - 4 months to open an account, says it all really.0

I stupidly ignored the poor reviews of Tesco Savings Accounts on Moneysupermarket.com. Nearly 2 months after registering with Tescos to open an account, it still was not open. Luckily I only sent the minimum amount of £1. Read the Tesco reviews on moneysupermarket.com. I also opened another account with ING at the same time and it was open quickly with no fuss. I rang Tescos to close the account and they told me I had to write to them! This is supposed to be an on-line account! Pathetic! Lessons learned. 1. Only open an account with the minimum amount and then you won't lose interest while it's being opened. 2. Take note of reviews. 3. Might be wise to open another similar account at the same time in case of problems (only if miniimum amount to open is small)0

You can't login until you return the form with a sample signature and then they send you an activation code. You can transfer money in tho and check by phone.
Correction : many people have had to return 2+ sample signatures before they're able to log in :rolleyes:Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Here's an update of my experience with them.
27th Dec - Applied for internet saver account
29th Dec - Received forms but had to amend date of birth from Feb to March
15th Jan - Received another form which I had to sign to confirm date of birth
4th Feb - Received notice account is open
19th Feb - Sent letter asking for registration details or close the account!!
24th Feb - Recd letter saying they are investigating
10th March -Recd letter with instructions how to log in.
-System couldnt "identify me from those details"
-Called them and realised they still had my date of birth in February.
They will send me a letter in 2-3 days to confirm my date of birth (the
same letter that I returned on 15th January)0 -
I have just logged in! What a palaver. I put in £10. I should have only put in £1. You can't pay in or out online without having previously set it up. You cannot set this up online. They want you to order their free card reader and then you need a card for it to read. I don't even know what the current interest rate is. I might try and ring when I am in the mood for it and have pleny of time and close the account.0

I registered for online banking and on the same day printed off the signature page and posted it. I recieved the registration code in the mail, but my signature verification has still not been processed.
Anyone who has successfully completed registration know how long Tesco usually take to process the online registration signature document?0 -
I've just posted this on the "Name and Shame" thread:
I applied for a Tesco Internet Saver account last December. I have put £50k in, without realising that I couldn't operate the account - no card reader - and I am not sure whether I actually did get the 12 months bonus. I have had very little paperwork and received a letter yesterday thanking me for opening my account and telling me that is was now fully processed, even though I still can't use it!!! Their system seems to be a complete shambles and I wish that I'd never bothered let alone trusted them with my savings!0
