'wow, can I come a lodge with you.
My other half used to live on Orkney, he lived in the main town Kirkwall? and worked for the council. He loved it there and was really upset when he had to leave. So much so that he cant bear to even think about it now! I have suggested we go up on holiday but he avoids it. I know he was very happy there, he was a member of the sailing club, talks about the ?Magna festival? all of the time and, well just gushes when I do get him to talk about it.
I really hope that you get that place it sounds like my kind of heaven. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
i'm also booking my lodgings for a holibob at some time. Hope the house viewing went well. any online piccies that we can all enjoy (aka nosy at?)0

Hello all
I am just flying in to say I am still here and reading all your chatterings! Ive been poorly so thought it was just me and mad drugs that found upstairs conservatory confusing!

i think only fay has not found the upstairs conservatory idea confusing, but she gets to see it so can believe it lol
hope you're feeling better soon pips mum and congrats on all the fund raising you've achieved.0 -
Goodmoring to one and all - Pipsmum you exhaust me, frantically waves to LT, EH and all- hello to Cherisong, where about in Orkney is OH from?
This is the general view of potential house - its about 1/4 mile east of this view but you get the general idea
And no the house in the foreground isnt it!!
Off to take photos with DD in a bit4/5 beds, 2 conservatories, huge utility room, decent sized kitchen down stairs bathroom, upstairs loo - steading, garage, field to the front, large garden private track NO neighbours
all electric heating, no open fires/woodburner.............
I think as they want a hugely long lease that might be able to be negotiated if I can get a decent quote for opening up one of the chimneys
DOing sums as well - I loved it but am wary I get mega carried away with the romantic notion of life (MOI?? surely not!!) - then again why live on a remote island if you cant enjoy those things - and by the look of the map (I've only visited at night) its a stroll down to the shore and the beach.
It would be perfect for a bit of summer visits in exchange for food parcels (if anyones keen!!!!)
PS I've discovered why the conservatory and why one upstairs and downstairs
There is not a single window in this house which faces the view - I guess that's where the prevailing weather is so no windows - its a modernised old farmhouse.
I can see the logic of it - but am SO glad the owners thought it was a bit silly and put on a just about completely glass extension so you could sit and look at the stunning views.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Just working out logistics of schools and buses - I know for definite its on the route for DS to get to school - but DD catchment is about 1/4 mile from the new house - so it might mean getting her there or getting her 2 miles to the main road.
All electric heating again but 2 conservatories - current tenant says they don't use heating over summer due to passive solar but in the winter its pricey - council tax band C - it was valued before they modernised it and added rooms.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
