    Debt-free and Proud!
Fay - ikea are good for cheap candles, if you ever find yourself in the glasgow/edinburgh sort of direction. Also, don't know if you have that shop au naturele (sp?) up your way? They have lots in there too.

Good news about the MOT, which my car had done that - it was £350 in July . And OH's car failed because his indicator bulb was the wrong colour...!!!!!!???
LBM 17th August 2009 Debt at LBM £18,612 Proud to be dealing with my debts.

well done Darwin for performing so well on your MOT!

My friend has found out today she's not being made redundant (after expecting it for 18mths) and also that she's got her professional letters.

went to see my paprents today, and when my dad said bye it was like he was saying it for the last time, i really hope i'm being silly and it's not true.

did some grocery shopping today, nothing extravagent cept the chamine toilet rolls yet it still cost almost £50 in three shops, and it took me less than an hour in total! where is the justice in it all?

wish i'd known you like stripey candles it's not long since i donated a few to charity which had never even been lit, i could have sent them your way.

LT glad your chum is OK :) sorry about OH missing out by a tiny amount - stripey candles will I am sure go to a lovely home :) I'd buy them and think of what lovlieness you have done by making sure you gave them in :)

SFRD :)- yeah they are scary - not quite sure yet the guy got the right car ?

Katy - Hey thanks - my nearest Au Naturale/Ikea is 300 miles away..... I love that shop - as I do IKEA. Will stick nose in when down next weekend whilst I also scurry in with 5 books for a voucher and hoof it into edinburgh and get my h o F voucher :)

Normally I have NO money for mainland shoppign but this time maybe I cna squeeze in a shopping top up and a few 'well costed out and researched treats - like candles'

I've got some lovely smelly stripey candles on the go at the moment - well, I have one on the go at a time as they're not that cheap! It's "Honeycomb crunch" apparently and smells gorgeous! Also have stripey socks on again today - just felt in that sort of mood when I got up this morning!

Hard to believe it's six months since the great Stripey-Stock-Up! Got something like that here at the moment as we've kept being sent useful vouchers for money off big shops so are marvellously stocked up -in fact there isn't room for everything in the storecupboard - there are bags of bread flour all over the place! Fingers crossed we shouldn't need too much for a decent length of time anyway! Have you got a list on the go for this time's top up then? Remember to think back to work out where the biggest savings were made if you're going to be limited for space.

Good news about Darwin behaving himself - MrEH's car when it's due next year will be the first car we've had to put through an MoT in 7 years! Urgh!

  • List is dug out - laughing at the flour scene - I had a similar one with rice

EH - I know what you mean about the biggest savings - but NOT going to the supermarket was the best saving (not tempted by things cos not popping in!) now I always take a basket :) so I might stock up on bulkiness during our normal 'pilgrimages' like I do at the mo. If i look for reduced cheese, veggies or meat - I also gather deals on loo roll, grab bottles of fizzy water 12p - ace with cordial, etc :)

I do remember last time the fizzy water was one of the things you said made for the best deal. The other way of approaching it is to consider what stuff you HAVE needed to buy that you didn't think about last time around, as well of course as topping up the obvious stuff that you'll use anyway. I've used a Tesco £10 off an online shop voucher to do the bulky stuff - they're paid to lug heavy shopping about, I'm not! The thing I bulk-buy that MrEH always curses is the big 3kg bags of pasta - they have to go in the very top of the store cupboard and only he can reach to get it down when I need to fill the jar! :rotfl: I'm still torturing him with the bars of chocolate in the larder too - such a shame I have NO inclination to eat plain choccy for its own sake, and I haven't got round to cooking with the FOUR bars I bought months ago! :D
