  • Peedie update

A NSD yesterday (huzzah). Paid early - double huzzah.

Grocery challenge 50quid this month but Piq has me organised and I will keep myself on the straight and narrow. DS and I have done a meal planner for last two weeks April - lets be honest we won't starve will we??

Paid an extra £75 quid to hairy loan as that was the interest and thats probably it for an extra payment this month. Bit down about the debt lark with the non appearance of extra lodger person - as it limits overpayments etc - but will soldier on.

Hurrah - I have printed my mega shop list off the web - clicked the compare button and have it split between tesco and asda at the moment.

I am about to very scarily take out £300 quid in cash and put the two together in beautiful synergy and hope for the best. I leave tomorrow.

Bags sorted out and boxes - bikes in car for adventures - I love my bike - although it is vaguely embarrassed with me on it - its a lovely proper Mountain bike - and I am far from a proper mountain biker!!

DS being thrown from a moving vehicle on Saturday am
Organised a takeaway and gossip with one of my best pals on Fri night - OH has a night out in Ed so I will prob go pick him up.
DD is going to stay with her best chum in Fife for a couple nights

I get to go and clean OH's flat from top to bottom on Saturday - you see how much I treat myself??? He's finished putting in the bathroom and has had the halls re-plasterboarded so its a bit messy and dusty there - bless him he's allergic to cloths and hoovers.

SUNDAY is the day of moutain biking hurrah.

Ankle biters fly off on Monday for the sunny french countryside.

(ps told my chum who's just got onto an IVA I expect to see her on the what small things thread after I get back so we might need ot hold her hand a bit:D )

    Morning All, how is everyone?

My face is still a little sore and I'm still tired. OH quietly doing my head in (bless, why do they always see us as the strong ones no matter what?). Sorting out my redundancy paperwork. Yes I'll get a nice cheque, may have to live off it if I don't get a job straight away but hopefully it won't come to that. It won't be enough to totally clear my debt but will massively reduce it. Determined to try and at least clear one small debt before I'm officially made redundant in a few months time.

Angelflower, sounds like you live close to me.

Stopped caring about not wearing make up (not allowed to anyway till my face heals completely). Its probably doing my skin the world of good! (Not that I wore a lot of make up but I did put on a tiny bit of foundation every day, so at least this way I end up with non-blocked pores!).

    First off HOW BIG?

A few ways to go with this - first off it depends how 'professional you want it done' and how big the area is - lifting turf is not hard once you get into it - a decent sized 14+ child could do it - do you have any neices/nephews brothers etc you can bribe???

OR - if not really professionally done (ie for immediate laying of a patio etc) then just get anyone to do it - tis not a difficult task nor does it involve lots of skill unless you need the area left completely level. (if you do phone up a local landscaping company and ask for a price)

So if you just want it lifted - you can give it a go yourself if its not a big area - its quick and easy and its not that much hard work.......OR

    Try
Ad on freecycle for someone to take away the turf for themselves
Or phone up a local handyman type cuts grassperson - they shouldnt be too busy yet and you might pay upto about 8-10 an hour depending on where you are
Or Stick an ad up in local shop
Or Look in local paper in the local services bit
Or get in touch with local college - if they do an agriculture/horticulutre course they will be able to stick up a notice for you

Thanks....some great advice, would never have thought of some of those.

Its about 15meters by 2-4 meters. It just takes ages which is why I wanted someone to come in and do it. I did a patch about 3msq last summer which took 2 days and have done a bit over last couple of nights and I am fed up now. My sweetcorn are bursting at the seams of their pots and am getting desperate to get them outside into the nice new raised beds I plan on building. Will scour the local papers tonight for a handyman type person as thats prob my cheapest option.

Wish I could come and have coffee too, but I'm miles away.

Hope you have a good trip Fay, you'll be fine on the food shop. I think your idea of a little grocery challenge is great. However, I need to point out that since I joined our weight loss challenge I've stopped losing weight....
