Have washed all mine without a problem. The single duvets can go in the machine at home, but the kingsize has to go to the laundrette.

A kingsize washed in my local laundrette costs £8 (I drop it off and pick up dry and clean later).

I wash the single at home in my machine as it fits but it wouldn't take a kingsize. Mine are both man made fibre filling as OH allergic to feathers. They was fine time and time again.

    Hi guys

    Thanks for the replies
I dont think it will fit in our machine, so i think ill look into taking it to a dry cleaners.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • I've taken my feather and down king-sized duvet to the launderette as it's too big for my machine at home. I had to spend a little while de-clumping but it was worth it not to have to buy a new one. All of my other synthetic duvets have been washed in the machine at home with perfect results
  • Mine is too big for my washing machine so I washed it in the bath....put it in, added soap and water, trampled all over it, repeat a few times, wrung it out and dried over the banisters.

It worked fine, cost nothing, was surprisingly fun and gave me some much needed exercise :)

How did you manage to wring it out or did the thing drip everywhere?

I washed mine last week in the launderette - cost £5 for a big machine, then I hung it over the banisters to dry and air for a couple of days. Came up like new.
  • I drained the bath, rolled the duvet into a sausage and jumped up and down on it :D:D

Then I wrung it out bit by bit by hand too - just getting a section at a time and twisting it. I think I actually hung it outside for a few hours too, to avoid carpet drippage - it was too heavy for the line so i hung it over one of those concertina airer things.

It's starting to sound like an epic mission but it really wasn't too bad and it smelt lovely of fresh air afterwards!
