Where there is an excess in SMI payment to the lender, I have been able to request a refund of such overpayment for months now. When I applied for a refund recently I was told that the legislation has changed and that the bank can no longer return overpayments/ Is this true? No-one at Jobcentre+ seems to know what SMI is even!

You should have never been able to claim back the excess. I would keep very quiet on that one!

The bank checked with the DWP each time, I'm told. Hoping to hear back from the DWP this afternoon. I live on that little bit of money!

That money is not yours to live off. You should have IS or another benefit to cover your living expenses.

    Hi

Sorry I work but dh was made redundant last year, mortgage repayment has finished so I am struggling to pay mortgage and bills.

Dh is no longer signing on but is also not working, can we apply and if so how? Or do you have to be in receipt of benefit (or at least signing on each week)

Mortgage is in joint names and we receive ctc and child benefit.

    Thanks

What a load of twaddle!! The person was only informing hard working people what their options were.
another crock of cr*p this girl is with a BOYFRIEND eg. not married. Why the hell should she subsidise her boyfriend. She should take the comments from Sprintblue and not listen to daffties like you and others on the site.
If you have worked all your life and never claimed benefits well, you are now sha**ed with the DWP. They only look after dolites and scum not others who have worked all their lives.

    ?????????????????????????????????????????

Why are you trolling a thread argueing against posts 9some) of which were mad a longtime ago?

    Or which AE are you?
  • You sound like a bitter twisted old ha*! This person has worked all her life and you have got a trait of jealously and bitterness in your answers so far after 90 odd posts.

you sound like an idiot, and i have 000`s of posts not 90
