You have to make stew!
:j
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Hi wee bargain hunter,
If you have a look through the Complete Slow Cooker Collection you'll find lots of recipes there that should help.

Onions
peppers
garlic ( i use frozen for the above 3)
Thanks chilli sounds nice. Curious about the frozen items though. Do you freeze them raw and then defrost? I've got half a raw onion in the fridge and a few sad peppers at the moment. I have a vague memory of someone on here storing things like this in a tub in the freezer till they were needed. Not sure if they cooked them first though.
In the meantime, I started reading Mr BE's thread last night and got some good ideas. Will try to finish reading it tonight. Think a stew with red wine will be made here soon!
Or maybe beef, ale and mushroom something.
Really looking forward to getting this thing working!0 -
My favourite is fairly simple but I don't have any exact quantities.
white/brown rice (a layer of about an inch or enough per person...as per packet)
chicken pieces/breasts (raw)
campbell's condensed soup (mushroom/chicken)
water (equal to soup)
Paprika (sprinkling)
Put rice, soup n water into cooker, lay chicken on top, sprinkle with paprika. Turn on, leave for a few hours, eat.
You can add whatever you want to it also, like peas, mushrooms, stock cubes etc. Allrecipes.com has a huge selection of recipes for the 'crock pot' as they call it.0 -

Hi Feef,
Soup in the slow cooker is made in much the same way as making soup on the hob. You'll find lots of recipes on this thread: Soup recipes or have a browse through The Complete Slow Cooker Collection

I made a chicken noodle soup in my slow cooker - just used Marigold stock, some browned chicken, sweetcorn, mushrooms and noodles and left it. Was delicious although I added too many noodles - duh! Be warned this isn't a thick, hearty soup...its more like a Chinese one.0

Leek & Potato soup is fab from the slow cooker.
