Good evening all :hello:
I've been off work today - had to see the doc - trouble down south
Couldn't believe the price of prescriptions - it's been a while
Not much OS acheived apart from nearly all my Co-op shop orange stickered :T
Very pleased with the Co-op as others have said. Decent reductions and all the meat is from here. I also recommend their Fairtrade "Gold" coffee, I stock up when it's on offer. Do try their new "not from concentrate" OJ too, if that is important to you, I find it very good.
We had bagels with cheese for lunch and meatballs (from the Co-op, not HM sadly,) tom sauce and pasta for dinner.
DS who was made redundant the week before Christmas had an interview yesterday. When asked, he said it was intimidating and he didn't think he had done so well. (It was a panel interview and his first experience of this.)
Still, as Wannbee_Sybil would tell me, it could be worse, there could be snakes
Hugs to all that need them and congrats to celyn! (No idea what it is either, sorry.) Edit: Now I do. Thanks Rzl!0 -

It's most often used as part of the examination process for higher or doctoral degrees, and is sometimes also used for bachelor's degrees particularly if the candidate's other final exams have left them right on the borderline between two grades.
Yep, I got viva'ed at the end of my BA - but in my case it was because I was averaging a high 2:1 in my exams, but for medical reasons had only attended a handful of lectures and seminars in the entire three years, so they were debating only giving me a 2:2 even though I had a 1st in my dissertation as well! They wanted to make sure sure I was really worthy of the 2:1 before they let me have it. Usually they only viva undergraduates if they are knife-edge between a 1st and a 2:1, or knife-edge between honours and a pass, so I guess I should be flattered I was worth the effort!
It was the worst most nerve-wracking experience of my life, a professor from Warwick and an outside one from LSE. Luckily they liked me, because I got my 2:1
Celyn, congratulations hun! It's wonderful for you, well done! Especially as it was at a mind-boggling level in science... at least in social sciences you have the luxury of everything being nothing more than opinion and everybody disagreeing with everyone else!0 -
My tooth is still jigging, it doesn't ache or hurt when I bite on it, so not sure whats going on......I have dentophobia.......I did not go for years......its only in the last few years I have gone each year for a check up and not had to have anything done..........can you get cold in a tooth????????
Csarina - if you've had a cold which has affected your sinuses, it can make all or some of your teeth ache quite badly, so it could just be that BUT, if you haven't had a cold, I would suggest you visit the dentist. Even if you don't like going, it's best to get it looked at asap, before it gets worse and involves treatment that could have been avoided. Many teeth are extracted when they could have been saved if they had been treated when they first started causing trouble.
I'm not lecturing - just talking from experience as a dental nurse!
Morwenna - glad to find another satisfied Co-op customer!
Hope everyone has kept safe and warm today and that all the LOs have had fun in the snow.

Evening all,:hello: glad so many seemed to have had a good day today, a lot of posts which made me smile.
We are very lucky with both our milkman and our wonderful postie, still lots of snow and very slippy underfoot but it didn’t stop them getting through with their deliveries. Prints in the garden today included rabbits, fox and cats (not ours, they only went a very short distance out of the door before rushing back into the warm). Snowdrops are trying to get their heads back up and the first daffodils are up (but not in flower yet). I have had a yellow spotted hellebore orientalis in flower since October, lovely plant, hope it provides some seedlings. Lots of birds around on the feeders.
Tru – congratulations to Mr. Tru on his job and :rotfl: at the “fat balls”, sort of conversation we have when watching the birds on their food.
Lillibet and Taplady – ouch, hope you are feeling better soon – if you have any arnica get using it quick.
Cel – Congratulations (confess I didn’t know what a Viva was either so thank you for the explanation Rzl and Silvercharming)
Mummysaver – I think you have twice most people’s energy and enthusiasm, you live in a lovely community!
Sunnygirl – how kind, hope it works well for all of you. So sad to read of the poor lad’s rejection by his adoptive “parents”.
Rmac – hope your delivery soon arrives!
Hugs to those who need them and furry purrs to the pets.
Off to do some cross stitch - don’t forget the Ladies at 10pm.:D0 -
Just to say goodnight before I collapse onto the sofa to watch a bit of tv
It has been a happy, upbeat, busy board today lots of posts have made me smile especially the fat balls & t*ts in the garden
Sleep well all it seems like another freezing cold one here but no snow since a smattering yesterday. I'll do hot water bottles for everyone tonight I think. See everyone in the morning :A0
