  • No hurts really - just bruised bum and pride. Thought had sprained wrist, but is OK now. Made them put it in the accident book as slipped on wet floor in BHS.

I need passport for Northern Lights jolly.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

A while ago, Sis told me Dad was obviously very poorly as he didn't know what day it was. Errr, hello?! *g*

Hi guys. Welcome Kitty*in*boots and Hopeless

Hopeless I may just still be a little bleary-eyed, but I'm not quite sure what the question was now, lol. I don't get any treatment for my ME/CFS (apart from REALLY lame CBT therapy from a woman who should never have qualified as one) but I get some meds that make the Fibro (and therefore the ME/CFS) easier to deal with. Both are still essentially about managing the illness though, as even with all the meds in the world, if you over do it, you'll suffer

Sorry, I do that a lot - put words down as they come out of my head without looking at what I'm actually saying!

Basically, I was wondering what I would be going through now if I had accepted the fibromyalgia diagnosis in 2004 and stopped looking for answers! I have never really investigated what happens to fibro people.

While not completely debilitated, I was bad but I'm a lot better now. My partner, on the other hand was wiped out totally 8 years ago (diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue), has not worked since and spent a long long time in pain, confusion and everything else that comes with it.

He's the one starting up a business as he's better now and is trying to get back to be a normal working person. The difference is that his previous employment relied heavily on mental capacity with very technical aspects to it, whereas now it will be mostly physical stuff. Again, if we had accepted the management techniques rather than looking for 'biological' causes, I dread to think what he would have been like by now.

By the way, don't worry I'm not trying to sell anything:-)

Lol, I should if I was you! And um, how did you not slap your sister?

Is it that soon, your Northern Lights malarky?? I hate to ask this, as I fear I know the answer, but why did you leave it so late before enquiring about passport renewal?

    Glad your wrist isn't sprained.

Hopeless did you ever get a diagnosis in the end?

Hi, I didn't know at the time that I was going to get a diagnosis from the specialist, I'd had x-rays, blood tests, bone scans, mri scans and other things I can't even remember now. I felt after about the 6th or 7th time of seeing him that he wasn't joking when he said 'I can't find anything wrong with you' and I felt like he just didn't believe me so I decided I didn't want to be insulted further and just didn't go back. I found out much later from my GP that I was going to be told it was fibromyalgia.

I'm one of the many people who realised I had classic Lyme Disease symptoms, only 3 years too bluddy late! That means I'm finding it a lot harder to shift than if the medical people had had a brain cell to rub together in the first place, but I will get there in the end. I'm particularly spurred on seeing my partner's improvement from totally bedridden to active sporty! He has also had pulsed antibiotics, it took 2 years. We're not sure if it was actually Lyme with him, but he was so bad that he felt it was worth a try to treat it as bacterial and it has paid off.

I didn't mean to stay here, I was supposed to be passing though looking for something else:-)

You seem like a pleasantly nutty lot, thanks for making me feel welcome:-)

I'd LOVE to see the Northern Lights, btw.

Only didn't as she was on the other end of a phone at the time and by the time I saw her, it had dropped off bottom of "To Do" List.

    Ermmmmm. Pass?!

    Glad your wrist isn't sprained.

Same here! Unlikely bit of luck for me.

    See - I didn't even have to multi-quote!! :D

CwtA I'm almost afraid to ask, but is the not-sprained-thank-goodness wrist the same hand as you chopped about in the blender recently? Should I be coming behind you with a dustpan and brush as well as Kass? Can I sell the bits I sweep up on ebay?:D

Hi Raeh I hope you're having a proper sit-down for once. I'm tired just reading about all you manage to do.:D

Yes it was me asked about plastic spoons. I reckon we need to do a night-time raid on a cutlery factory.;)

Yep, supposed to be trundling along to the pub tonight, if I can get my act together and get us fed, and put some "proper" clothes on (just wearing a kaftan at the mo).
