Saffie, he normally would help me get lunch when he's at home, he's a real gem that way, particularly as I can't cut veggies myself. But we literally couldn't get anywhere near the kitchen as the plumbers had all their stuff in the way. Bless him, Mr LW was slaving over a hot laptop all day, as he was logged into work from here.

We did indeed have Sausage Inna Bun, as there wasn't enough time during lunch hour to prepare our usual veggie Shepherd Spy. I keep a supply of LM/Quorn sausages, and some veggie hot dogs in the freezer, and there were home home made rolls to put them in. Mr LW is so good, although he's not veggie himself, he eats veggie food at home as I can't bear even the smell of meat.

Work is all done; there was a whole load of sludge in the hall radiator. I did manage to recover enough for us to attend Dungeons & Dragons last night, and got the credit for killing no less than three monsters, all on my own!

Lilaclillie, I can't believe the GP telling you to have a drink! Wish mine would say that..... seriously, though, I think maybe a second opinion should be sought.

I still have the blue, red and green one. I'm still looking for a bargain one to replace it with.

Sorry you've had a tough night.

Well done LameWolf on getting through your day and still going out in the evening.

I just really can't be bothered to do anything today, so am not going to even try and motivate myself. I'll just have a L word day :D

  • Hi all :hello:

Well, brilliant news. My friends lump was just a big cyst and they drained it while she was there. She text me from the hospital and said thanks for worrying. I wonder if hallmark have a card for that "thanks for worrying about my boob" :D

So we just needs some good news from Sharon now. It does feel like a long time but it's probably only been a week.

Welcome Lilaclillie. Your doc is most unhelpful although, unlike raeh, I would appreciate being prescribed alcohol :p Seriously though, I think the doc said that cos a few years ago (well more than that but not wishing to offend  ) they used to say that a tot of brandy/whiskey helped you sleep. I think that's where the term nightcap came in. That is fine in the short term but I think it's a bit irresponsible to tell you to do it in the long term. That could lead to dependancy. Especially so if you find it makes you feel better so start having a couple a night, then that increases then before you know it you have an alcohol problem. It is so easily done. I saw this with my friend after she fell and broke her hip. Now the other one has gone and they can't seem to fix them right. This has been going on for years and she is in constant pain. I didn't get to see her often as she lives in Ireland but noticed that she didn't seem herself then found out she is always drinking and trying to hide it. I never really understood until I experienced chronic pain myself but now I can see how she got there.

Anyhoo, moral of the story is, do not self medicate with alcohol. I don't really care if I get my hand slapped for giving medical advice, especially contradicting the advice of a doctor. This doc has given poor advice and should be searching for a cause and at least giving you prescribed medication that can be controlled my the doctor not the patient. Sorry but I just find it really irresponsible. As the others have said, keep a diary, say for about a month. Write everything in it, no matter how insignificant it may seem, then go and see another doctor! Are there others in your practise you can see?

Well I've rambled that much that I've forgotten who I wanted to reply to. Something about cake and cyber ***, I'll leave it up to you lot to fill in the rest :D
  • Well, I never! Have just had an update from BBC ticker saying that studies have shown knitting is good for staving off memory problems. You guys might be onto something!

Kass I'm so pleased that your friend's problem turned out to be a cyst. She, and you, must be very relieved. I expect we'll hear about Sharon when there's something to tell us. All we can do is keep sending good thoughts her way.:o

Am I the only person here who's not terribly interested in handbags? I have one of course, as a necessity, but it's quite old and scruffy now (it's a tapestry one I got in Belgium in 2003, and has been in constant use since then) but I can't be a*sed looking for a replacement.
