it was gorgeous careful, all those tv ads that you never quite believe because you assume they are doctored (well if your me) are true. id really like to be rich enough to live there, all the sun i want instead of this nasty drizzle that i dont want to go out in *sigh*
now insert rant here about the difficulty of changing your official nearest relative as set out in the mental health act. should the act ever come into play i get no choice in who my nearest relative is, and that would be my father whom i dont speak to) followed by my mother and not m sister (who is listed everywhere as myb next of kin and knows most about me). in order to change it i would ahve to get my parents to ask to be removed, or take it before the county court and prove why my parents would not be suitable and should be displaced. i am so very not happy about that. meh!0 -
Ooh, that would be good, CwtA I shall definitely keep everything crossed for you (insomuch as it doesn't interfere with my driving LOL)
We're going to Orkney, starting out early (ish) on Thursday morning, so I'll probably be online some time tomorrow, then that'll be it til 8th June.
Mr LW has been there before, but it was with a coach tour, so he couldn't do what he wanted, had to go with the itinerary; and I've never been before, so hopefully, we'll enjoy it.:o
I'm so pleased for you LW - you will come back feeling totally re-charged :T. It is the most wonderful place, where time seems to have stood still for thousands of years. I think I said before when you mentioned it about the stone circles and especially the Neolithic settlement at Skara Brae - honestly it looks so well preserved you would think that the inhabitants had just stepped outside for a moment. The wind up there is very fierce though so be prepared - I found it really tired me out. I didn't get the chance to see the chambered cairn at Maeshowe, so if you do - do post a pic.
Have a wonderful holiday and may the weather stay fine for you .Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Tria that is one impressive list! I take it you go to conventions regularly?
Pcl I hadn't realised that about the "nearest relative" - thankfully, "husband/wife" is top of the list, so I'm OK.
I found this link, just in case anyone else is interested.

LOL sorry Jamla, my suitcase is full!
Unity I hope to be visiting some of the Neolithic sites; also, there's a seal colony close to the hotel we'll be staying in, so hopefully I'll get to see them too. Thanks for the warning about the wind - I shall take suitable precautions! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

I think that's terrible PCL - would it cost much to change this via the County Court? It's probably a right palaver, but once done you could put it behind you. I would not be happy if I were in your situation, especially as you are so close to your sister. I would have loved to have had a sibling, but alas....... It seems absolutely ridiculous that you need to have someone you don't even speak to as your legal next of kin. I mean they could be an abusive monster but as usual red-tape ties them to you. I don't blame you at all for ranting. If I hadn't married and had children, I'd be hard pushed to know who my next of kin would be - there isn't anyone left .
It seems most of us have been plagued by the need to rant this week and yesterday it was my turn. I had phoned my repeat prescription in to the GP's receptionist last Monday, so by rights it should have been ready by Wednesday. However things got in the way and I only got the chance to pick it up yesterday. When I'd phoned it in I told them I needed three items and asked whether the Carbamazepine had been put on repeat by my GP, since she'd said he's away. The receptionist said that it hadn't - so I mentioned that it isn't one of those drugs that you can just stop taking and she said "Not to worry, I'll get one of the other doctors to fill it out for you." Just as well I checked as only two of the items had been prescribed - so I said: "Oh dear, someone has missed off the Carbamazepine". It clicked straight away that she was the one I had spoken to and I think she realised as well as she asked me to take a seat and she'd get it sorted straight away. Thirty-five minutes later and I was still waiting . I have no idea why, since they obviously have a pad of pre-signed blank script forms that the male nurse practitioner fills in. I realised this when I saw him with them in his hand - when the doctor whose signature was on it, was away for lunch!
What gets me is that these mistakes happen on average two out of three times . It doesn't matter whether I phone or fax my request, there is always, always some error or another. I wouldn't mind if I didn't (as always) do everything in my power to make life easier for them - like in this case drawing attention to the fact that the GP probably hadn't put it on repeat although he had meant to. I finally got it - but with the proviso that I'd need to see my own GP when he returned, to which I replied that I already have an appointment for 9th of June (earliest I could get of course:rolleyes:) and since he'd given me a month's supply last time I saw him - but then gone off for three weeks holiday, I don't see what else I could do .
The words @rse, both hands and map come to mind - as do pi$$ up and brewery . There are more office staff than doctors, but no matter what, they will always manage to 'Ecclefechan' it up! Next time I fax my prescription I think I am going to ask in the final paragraph how much time I need to factor in for them to get things wrong as a week plus thirty minutes waiting time was still too little last time.
Sorry rant over - but the last thing you need when you are feeling all hurty - with really bad tinnitus, is to be sat in the middle of the baby clinic waiting room for thirty minutes of crying torture:eek: - been there, done that and bought the 'T'-shirt three times
To err is human - to really b0ll0cks things up takes surgery clerical staff  (or the local planning department) :rotfl:.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
