Hi folks,
I'm nipping on quickly, as I needed to post a question on another thread. Hope you haven't all had too many MSE withdrawal symptoms?
Trialia I promise I haven't deliberately ignored you - I'm not very good at holding info in my head for long enough to reply to everyone, and often (as now) don't have the energy to keep scrolling back to see who said what.
Anyway, I'm offski now, for a lie down, as I've been very busy this morning, and am at the "so tired I'm feeling dizzy" stage.
See ya tomorrow (provided the site is still up!)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
drives me mad that new customers are always offered better deals/ lower cost for 3 months etc. Bout time they started trying to keep the ones they have not pulling in new ones
I did that with Norwich Union last months when I was able to get quotes for my household insurance for £60 - £80 cheaper than they were quoting for renewing. To be fair, it's the first time they've not been the cheapest/most economical option, but I got another £50 off my original renewal quote so stayed with them.
I really do think that 15 - 17 years without a claim deserves some kind of loyalty from them.s/e0 -
My sentiments exactly Raeh. To me my premium should be going down year on year, but alas, DF's accident has something to contribute to that...despite the protected NCD
Cwta Df's on the phone atm to them. I just bark orders at him while paying most of my attention to the laptop"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
Actually, I glad we're all up and running again as I've got something that I can't quite get my head round that's worrying me.
Got a hand delivered letter yesterday when I was out and it turns out the landlord hasn't paid the Water Rates and they want over £1700. Letter was from a Debt Collection Agency. Now, the debt isn't in my name, but I live here and use the water and, having heard all about the tricks these folks play, I'm a bit scared.
My first instinct is to phone water Board and get all future bills sent to me, I'll pay them and deduct it from rent, but what it that leaves me open to this past charge?
Landlord is in Aus and I know these people don't care who they get the money from, they just want the dosh.
Having had money probs in the past (way in the past now), it's brought back a lot of the stress and fear.
I'll try to call someone for advice tomorrow, but it's preying on my mind at the mo.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Might I also suggest if the letting agent is no help (if there is one), your first port of call should be CAB (or similar) in order to find out what SWW and/or the debt collection agency can do, and, more importantly, what they can't do. It's amazing how fast a company will back off if you know your rights in any given situation.s/e0 -
Auntie axe I agree with all our wise s/e said
[i cant copy and paste it for some reason and i already used the quote button below!!] find out all your rights and then call the water company, throw the disabled card in too
they cant cut your water off!

s/e, there's no letting agent, I pay rent direct into their bank account. I suppose what I'm worried about (as the landlord is so slap dash - I haven't had a curtain pole in living room for nearly 2 years, front door is actually an internal door etc) that they'll try to blame me somehow for ir even though I've done nothing wrong. They could give me notice to leave, but then I have been kinda hoping to move anyway, but am concerned re the not being employed part and the fact that I have a cat.
Maybe I should see this as the last straw, but I hate moving - I've done it so much and find it so stressful - it's been a lifelong source of panic for me and I long for stability.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Cwta I had full intentions of going through the MSE tips re car insurance, but fell at the first hurdle cos I didn't know what date the insurance claim/accident was or how much it was for etc. Now I know this I'll go back to the formula and start again. Quidco give you £2 just for checking for quote (max 5xper year) as my sister informed me and that's where you're supposed to start. Direct Line does the 12months for 10 thing and she's put the equivalent of that saving on to the premium saving about £90. There is the 14 day grace period incase we back out so if I find something cheaper in the meantime then we can cancel but still insured right now. Tomorrow is another day though, and all that
Remind me though guys if I've not said anything about it, cos it's liable to get lost in the fog!!
As for the water bill Auntie Axe there's not much I can suggest barring ringing the company(s) involved and letting your landlord know. It'll more than likely be just an oversight somewhere. Don't fret too much til you know what the score actually is. I used to get debt collection letters all the time to my old house, in the name of the previous tennant - or various forms of her name anyways - and it freaked me out at first, but in 4yrs of living there - despite continual letters - nobody came to the door..? I let my landlady field some of them too."I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
thanks for that, im always suffering

I do have a fb, so does Kass. Think it was suep that mentioned it last though. And tbh Raeh, I don't know about fb being confusing - but that sentence you put certainly was!! One this and one that and one for this one. I was baffled! :rotfl:
DF's just gone to work and is dropping wee Buddy off on his way.We dognapped him for the night
