Hahaha, you guys! It's far busier on here today than it normally is on a weekend! I did spend all morning sleeping pcl and was supposed to be running round doing things this arvo, but I ended up with another waterfall in the kitchen when I ran the shower...so still no shower (through no fault of my own!) and I haven't been locked in the wardrobes...yet! But then there's no handles on the doors yet either ;)

I'll be back later on, when I've decided what's eating [strike]Gilbert Grape[/strike] DF....

Aaaaaww, that's a lovely thing to say! I'm not as established in our little group as most but I must say it has stopped me feeling so lonely with my condition and helped with making me realise that life isn't over. You all really inspire me how you all cope so well and that, in turn, helps me cope and keep cheerful.

I would say group hug but I just can't cope with the picture :rotfl:

I'm glad you both got to meet s/e and auntie axe and more pleased that you are going to do it again!

Kass how can you say that ? Of course your an established person in our group, you cheer us all up with your zany sense of humour, no matter how grim your life is, and I know everyone will agree with me.

Im sitting here giggling on my own about you not coping with the group hug picture as it is :rotfl:

Oh and you can have a slice of my cake any time you like hun, it's got banana in it one of your 5 fruit and veg a day so its healthy, plus its a vegan recipe so no nasty eggs or saturated fat in it ;)
By the way, isnt the cambridge expensive ?

This thread has given me so many new friends in the virtual world and in real life and I'm grateful to each an every one of you for giving me something of a life back. Before I came on here, I wasn't going to the theatre or anything and would never have dreamed of going on a trip like that on my own and it's down to you lot. Hugs to you all. :j

suep, I did go on a bit :o . The website that shows the pictures taken on the various trips is www.auroraflights.co.uk and there are some better photos there. I wanted to show you something representative of what I saw.

Thats a lovely thing to say about us all cwta, I didn realise the group had given you so much confidence. I think we are all really lucky to have found eachother and I would love to meet up with any one of you, if anyone fancys coming down to my end of the woods ;) I hate it when I cant get on here and check up on everyone and tomorrow might well be one of those days, Ive got both sons, their partners and both g/kids all coming to dinner, and d/h has gone for a drink with his mates tonight so he will probably be in bed all day and no help at all, so even when they go I'll probably be too tired to come on here, so I hope you all have a good Sunday.

The sites great, I looked at loads of the pics, they are amazing aren't they. Its a shame you didnt get any pics yourself but at least theres plenty for you to see, did you get one of the books ?

that goes for me too btw.

sue hope they dont tire you out too much tomorrow, enjoy them being there :).

bz is that house safe? im getting really rather worried now, is it all dodgy landlord diy?
  • suep, it's the feeling supported that makes me feel so different and my state of mind is so much better as a result. I did get the book, but haven't read it as yet.
It sounds like you have a full day planned. Hope you have fun and that it doesn't tire you out too much.

kass of course you are a fully-fledged member of the group and we are glad to have you here.

I'm in one of those moods where I'm finding it difficult to settle again - not so much so that I fancy tackling housweork though *g*.

Hope everyone that hasn't posted today is OK.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Thanks suep, I was drooling earlier :D I love banana and chocolate!

It isn't really that expensive. The Lighter Life is about £65 and Cambridge is £35.70 unless you have the bars which adds another 25p per bar. When I'm only able to shop for a couple of days at a time I seem to spend a fortune and end up buying stuff I don't really need so I'm actually saving money on this. Plus, if I was going to weight watchers or something I think that costs nearly a tenner so I can knock that off the price straightaway if I'm comparing costs. It's killing me drinking all this water. I've got to drink 2.5 litres a day!!

Well, I had better go and help XOH (:D ) pack. He is off to Wales tomorrow for a month working. It will give us both some space at least.

Have a good day tomorrow suep and everyone else

    Hi folks,

I posted a question on the main board but haven't had much response (hey, maybe I'm not hoping for a response, just a 'there there, it'll all be fine). Kassandra suggested I try in here. I am feeling horribly anxious about this medical, so any suggestions or personal experiences would really help me to feel like I'm a little more prepared.

    Thanks.

I have my medical for DLA next week. They wanted to come to my house but I asked to go to them (I live where I work, and I don't want my colleagues knowing I've applied). I'm encouraged to get this far. I applied for DLA when I first got FMS, but got turned down within one week. 9 years on I've got the courage up to try again.

    I've a couple of concerns:
    1) I'm worst first thing in the morning and in the evening. My medical is early afternoon - my best time of day. I took this appointment so that I can actually manage to get there. But it means they won't see me at my worst.

    2) With walking, I do experience discomfort, but I tend to hide it instinctively (I work, and I've learned not to let clients see me suffer). I'm worried I'll do this out of habit in the medical.

    3) Again with walking, while I can walk, I tend to be exhausted afterwards - yesterday I walked from the GP's gate to reception to pick up a prescription and I was exhausted for the rest of the day.

    4) I have a tremor in my hands but it's not consistent. One minute it's a mild shake, the next I can't hold a cup. But I can be fine for hours at a time, and again, early afternoon is my best time.

I'm concerned because all of these sound like the 'I know I don't look sick, but I am really' issues that DWP are so sceptical of. Any suggestions of what I can do to make the Dr see I'm telling the truth? And should I mention that I work or not? I'm really nervous of this - I know people just say tell the truth, but I've had FMS long enough to know that most people don't believe the truth.
  • Hi Jo

Welcome to the fibro thread. I'm not going to attempt to answer your question just yet - the brain's no woken up sufficiently, but if no-one with more recent experience responds, I'll come back and have a go later.

Meantime, have a skipful of whatever takes your fancy, 'til the rest of the motley crew come round.
