It was all done through Mallard vehicle finance and not a dealer.
I'd send your next letter recorded delivery

as it's a complaint about mis selling it goes on the date of selling and you have to have made a complaint within the 6 year limit - this is the Limitations Act 1980, also GE didn't come under the FOS in 2002.

You said you paid it off in december 2003 - did you repay it early?

Yes, paid it off early so I should've had a settlement statement but don't think I ever got one, just the final payment amount.

I guess this means I can't claim on this one then?

maybe not on the mis selling but you when you settled early you probably weren't given a very goods rebate, so you could claim for an unfair rebate against the insurance underwriters

    Hi all

I have just posted my first letter to Egg for a ppi refund on the grounds of mis selling for a loan taken out June 2003 (last payment this month). Will they try and palm me off with this limitations act?

  • Hello,

Just to say I've had a final response from Barclays regarding my very complicated compound-interest PPI complaint that has been ongoing since July:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2020069

I would be very grateful if anyone could take a look and let me know if they think this is worth pursuing via FOS - it looks to me that Barclays are putting their hands up and acknowledging a mistake, but refusing to do anything about it, so would welcome your input.

no because unlike GE Capital Egg were covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service from 2001 - GE was 2005
  • Hello

I hope someone can assist me.

I took out a loan for 25,000 back in October 2007, with PPI. When I came to make a claim on the insurance I was advised that I was not eligible. I claimed for missold PPI (using the templates from MSE) in January 2009 and on chasing the lender for a response was advised that they had not recieved my claim. I resent the claim on 25 June 2009 which was upheld. On 3 August 2009, they made a full and final offer of 5,251.00 with 3,400.49 to be credited to the loan account and 1,850.51 to be paid directly to me and confirmed that the repayments would not be reduced. I had claimed interest and requested a breakdown of the offer but this has not been provided to date.

My understanding was that the premium was more in the region of 8,500 (however I am unable to access my loan documentation as it is in storage). I had also made a disclosure request and despite chasing for this, this has not been provided to date.

I am not being chased by the lender (who is sending me e mails to "contact them urgently") for my decision on the offer. I have advised that I am unable to consider the offer without a breakdown or disclosure. It also says in the letter that I have six months from the offer date to contact the FSO.

Can anyone give me any advice on what I should do?

    Many thanks
