    Hello everyone...

I came here today looking for answers on a slightly different topic but having read this section of the forum I am both amazed and feel slightly stupid for paying my loan provider over the odds for PPI.

Just to fill you in on why I came here today. My E** loan will be fully repaid this month. Having made the repayments over a 78 month period by direct debit, without missing a payment, e** has now written to me stating that an addittional interest payment of approx. £18 is required. I emailed them disputing this amount and they replied -

"We allow you the option to select the date of your Direct Debit however we cannot take a payment until 30 days has elapsed. Your first payment was collected as of **-07-2003 and as a result 4 days worth of additional interest was accrued resulting in your higher final payment. This could have been countered at any time as you're able to make additional payments to your Egg Loan with no penalties".

Infuriating! - I was never given a choice of start date and was never advised that addittional interest could be applied. Worse than gangsters!

Anyway, having read some of the posts here I am now prepared to have a go at claiming a PPI refund from these blood suckers. Can anyone tell me if it's worth the effort considering my loan started June 2003. At that time I was told that the loan was subject to accepting their PPI.

    Hope someone can advise

    regards

Yes you can and should.:D Goodluck, they will regret asking you for £18!!

  • Hope someone can help, digging through my paperwork i discovered i ahd been paying ppi on a sofa purchased from dfs (paid off now).
I wrote and emailed dfs using template letter for misselling ppi, a girl has left messages for me to call back but again i have sent letters via email and post stating that i wish all correspondence to be done in writing and have come back to an email saying that as i will not contact them via telephone that the matter is now closed until contact is made via telephone.

    Can they do this?????????
  • Cheers Pinknico...

On principle alone, the steam is still blowing through my ears. Your comment is all the encouragement I need. I will let everyone here know how I get on.

    regards..

Not as far as I know, I would give the FOS a quick ring and see where you stand on this.

I would not think they can do this about calling and closing the matter but sometimes these calls are to speed up the process of the PPI claims and some have actually got paid out really quick from posts on here by doing this. If you really do not to call them then as pinknico says ask for the FOS advice on it.

    Good luck

Many thanks pinknico and Merry Christams to you and yours too. :xmassmile

Our doggie number 2 will now not have to wait for us to save for his operation and we will use the balance to clear some credit card debt, what a lovely feeling. :j
Good news for you goaliesmum. I am glad that you are able to pay for your doggies op with it too. I had vet bills this year too of £800 unexpected and it was a godsend to be able to afford (even if we did pay on the overdraft for a while). I have now taken out insurance for them both again as you never know when you are going to be met with vet bills. Hope your doggie goes on OK...;)

Hi Longword, was your complaint originally that Egg had told you that by having the PPI it would help in your application?? If this is the case and you applied online then this would be classed as a non advised sale whereby Egg would have not advised anything. I realise you are pretty miffed at the FOS but was the box perhaps pre ticked?? If it was then there is a chance that you could still win but certainly not by saying you were advised that the PPI would help in applying unless of course you rang them first and could perhaps prove this???

So sorry how this has turned out:confused:.
i agree with you marshalka, long words only chance is that it was pre ticked and try that route again. i would also ask for it to be passed to someone higher up, as i won mine because i argued that the box was pre ticked making me think it was a charge that was automatically added. please long word if you read this have another go, and good luck just had a thought on the cancellation part, what reason did you give for cancelling the ppi? as i think egg are in the wrong for refusing to cancel, that has nothing to do with if you applied on the internet, and the fos should look at this.

    Just got post. :j

    Letter from HSBC

Prepared to settle complaint without any admission of liability and no intention to respond specifically to individual issues raised.

Unwind PPI plan and refund all premiums to date, £4837.28 including interest of £630.25, will be paid as soon as loan is restructured.

Great news, hope others get some good news today too

    Fantastic :T:T:j:j
Congratulations and well done, so happy for you.
