PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi All,
has anyone any info on how long Barclays take to pay out on PPI reclaim? They agreed to repay me (having gone through FOS Adjudicator). Sent my signed agreement and they rec'd it (according to Adjudicator) on Oct 14th. It is now 6 WEEKS and still nothing. I have spoken to Barclays London office on a number of occasions and was told it was in the system. They even gave me the figure which sounded about right. I was told a letter should have gone to me on Nov 10th (but I rec'd nothing). Was told that the amount probably needed final authorisation (this was when I rang on Nov 20th!). I have been chasing and chasing and have written again to Ombudsman a couple of Days ago (and e-mailed) to try and get some action. It seems I am just being fobbed off and, with bills mounting, I am beginning to think they are not going to pay at all. Is this the case? Can Barclay's now go back on their written offer of settlement which I have accepted? It seems to me that 'winning' a case is just the start of a long drawn out battle to actually see the cash. Has anyone else had all this hassle with Barclay's???? If they have a lot of cases then they should just get more staff! I bet our Bank Charges rejections happen in days! Sorry for length of post. I'm running out of hair to tear out!! Good Luck everyone.
Hi Nemo58
So sorry to hear that your STILL WAITING for your money.
I suggested to someone yesterday "not sure if it will work or not though" if in hardship is to let them know and that you require this within 7 days of this letter.
And I also mentioned that due to these delays of paying out, is that they should compensate extra interest for every week your waiting for the distress.
Shame this is not part of the FOS suggestions, but I'm sure they would pay out far quicker if this was the case.
Hope you receive your money very soon, tell them your in need of it now and not later.;)
Good luck.

Hi again,
thanks for advice. Will try that route on Monday. Will be ringing original Adjudicator to see if any news there too.
Assume it's the Barclay's London address I need. Anyone have the right one?
When I spoke to the guy at Barclay's London he said Interest calculated MONTHLY by them. This seems at odds with my understanding that the 8% should calculated on a DAILY basis? Just more BS I suspect. Is it not the case that the Bank should send the letter to you stating the amount paid ON THE SAME DAY it goes to your account? Otherwise you lose out?
OK - nuff said. Doesn't seem to be many threads on Bank delays in paying out. The longer they leave it - the more charges a lot of people will rack up, off-setting any gain. No surprises there then!
Thanks All.....any info gratefully rec'd..0 -
Hello and welcome.
That is a load of tosh what they have told you, and funny how they should ring and not put this into writing.
Write back hun and tell them your mum is not standing for this, and they can go back at least 6 years, even more in some cases.
Tell them you know your rights and if they do not resolve this by refunding all the PPI and the interest then you will take this to the financial ombudsman service to investigate, and tell them you want all correspondence in writing.
Give them 14 days to get back to you.
Post by recorded delivery.
This should all go in your mum's favour, keep at them.;)
Dear di3004
Thanks so much for helping, I havn't wrote any letter yet only spoke to them on the phone.
When I realised my mum was paying PPI I asked for the ins co to send me a sickness claim form. so that I can claim on the insurence for her disability and illness since 2004. I completed it and sent it off after which they rang and spoke to me saying they can only pay her on the insurance claim for 2006-7.
my mum recieved a letter from them today explaining how much she will get for the 1 year (2006-7 = £3,867) and that she has to continue sending them a form each month, (but her insurance has expired 2 weeks ago), which they have sent with the letter so that the insurence co can continue paying for her loan.
I'm so confussed with this all. Should I be claiming for the full refund of the money she has payed towards the PPI or making a claim for her sickness??
Please help?0 -

I will write to them but it will be the first time I write to them, should I use the letter you have put on the fourm?
Hi there
Hope your well and your welcome.
It does seem all confusing doesn't it?
Check here as well for more template letters, in case they suit your mum more better, and of course you can use that letter if you want to that I wrote, if your mum is happy enough with it also.;)

You can also change the letter I wrote in your own words as well if you want to, whatever suits your mum's requirements best.;)
Good luck, please let us know how you get on, that would be good, cheers.

Hi there.
Sorry to save looking back on posts, for which bank or organisation do you require these details for?
Cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

How much time have they given your mum to accept or not?
If there is a huge difference in the amounts they are offering, then I would not accept but depending on how much difference there is.
There was a post or 2 posted on here in the week, where some have said to others, write to say you will accept as "part refund" but will continue to reclaim on the remainder of the years.
You could try first if you wanted to as another option by telling them your not happy with the amount and believe that your mum should be refunded for all the years she have paid in PPI, and of course if they do not do this, you can always take this complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), however this may take sometime, but if your mum is in any financial hardship, and maybe she has medical conditions as well, your mum could request for her case to be fast tracked by the FOS.
Any idea what the full amount would be if they did refund the whole lot?The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
hi
sorry!
for welcome finance. they have written to me to say they can't accept my complaint (even though i used the mse template letter for ppi reclaim) unless i fill out a questionaaire (that asks me for copies of my orig loan documents, information on mine and my husbands jobs a the time -hours worked, occupation etc, details of other ppi policies i've had in the time etc) my opinion is that this is none of their business?
thanks - sorry for the ramble0 -

Hi there,
Surely they should still hold all your info.
How long ago did you take out this loan?
Hey your not rambling lol, and when they sold you the loan, these should have already been asked then, in order for them to know if you would be eligible to have had the loan from them, so for them to ask you this, its possibly a stalling tactic.
In regards of the questionnaire, these seem to be procedure now, so if you can just write the answers next to them in brackets, such as (please refer to my letter sent to you dated XX/XX/XXXX) and on others, (please refer to my account details - I believe you should still hold these details from when you sold me the policy).
If they don't get back to you by the 8 weeks they are entitled to as from your original letter, your entitled to take this to the FOS.
Not sure on the actual Chief Executives email address, hopefully someone will have this for you, but address wise, there is a thread here if required at any time.
