sent off letters 1 and 2 for ppi reclaiming based on single premium misselling, lloyds tsb sent reply stating that in my circumstances i needed the ppi and that i knew all the ins and outs, but the person who actually sold me the ppi definitely did not say that it would be one lump sum with added interest,it was only when all the fuss came about ppi that i checked my paperwork and found that where i had signed just above it was the premium with the interest.Iam sure though that they have now stopped people selling ppi as a single premium all together, i really dont know where i stand with lloyds tsb are they such a tough nut to crack or am i just overly worried,I did sign the paper work but still if they have stopped people selling it as a single premium surely there must be something wrong.I have written to the fos and are hoping they can sort it out,has anyboby else been in the same situation with lloyds tsb and if so how did you get on0

Hi ric
Not had any complaints myself with LLoyds, however there are some whom have had complaints with Lloyds, now that FOS are looking into it lets hope this will be a good outcome for you.
If they also state that in your circumstances you needed the ppi, have they proven that this is the case?
I would not worry about this as FOS will look into it for you now.
Good luck ric:wave:0 -
Hello all,
I wonder if anybody can help me?
I have sent off the first stage letter to Blackhorse and have received their reply this morning. As I expected they have declined our complaint. I have just used Martin's second stage template letter but am wondering if I should add fuirther info to support our claim?
Ours is not a simple case of just being mis-sold, we took out a £4K loan with PPI AT £1723.61 in Sept 2005, both at 17.9% APR. At this stage I was not working and my husband was doing temp work through an agency so had no employee "rights", would this be classed as being self-employed???? Before making a payment on this loan we decided to increase the loan to £12000 and they added PPI of £7411.06 at 12.9% APR, this loan paid off the original £4000 loan and possibly the PPI too. By this time my husband had been made permanent at his job and therefore received death-in-service and long term sick cover. At both stages we were told that due to my husbands adverse credit we would have a better chance of being accepted for the loan if this insurance was in place. A year into this we decided to cancel the insurance and notified Blackhorse (the representative who had drawn both loans) and they agreed. Some time after I noticed they were still taking payments including the PPI so I complained and they refunded us what we'd paid since we "cancelled", they also mentioned at this time that the guy who sold us the policy and who we actually notified to cancel it had been dismissed due to dubious selling techniques! I think this was said to cast Blackhorse in a better light and to shoulder the blame entirely onto the guy we had dealt with. We made our final payment including PPI in July 2007 and paid off the loan in its entirety in Jan 2008 with a settlement of £11,495.10. Part of their letter which we received today states "As your agreement with us is now settled and you have had the benefit of cover for the period of your agreement, no refund of the sums paid for Payment Protection Insurance will be made to you". Well this is a complete lie! Does anybody think I should add all of this to the second stage letter or just send Martin's template letter?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hello
following on from then wonderful advice i got here the other day, i wondered if i may be so cheeky to ask another question
I suffer from an as yet undiagnosed nerve prob in my right arm/hand. it affects my whole arm, so i struggle to do daily activities and using pcs etc.
My first ever consultation with a dr was in nov 2006, since then i have had several gp visits, carpal tunnel dilation op (which was recommended following nerve conduction studies) although when they had the wrist open on the op table, i heard 'oh look, the median nerve is fine here, we didnt need to do this op' , i have also had an mri scan, intensive physio, and several drug treaments. all which havent done much (bar the medication) except keep my pain at a somewhat managable level.
in feb 2008 i had to give up my job, they had tried to redeploy me in mid 2007, but the new job didnt work out either, they struggled to find me a alternative job, and were ringing me everyday for jobs, to cut a long story short, i couldnt cope with them pressuring me to take jobs that i know i couldnt do and would hurt me more, so i resigned.
I tried to claim on my mortgage insurance, which i first took out nov 2005 approx, i then updated this cover in early 2007 when we added my husband onto our mortgage. I also had a bill protector cover and cc ppi in place. all with the same terms and conditions.
this was in march 2008, it took until oct 2008 for them to say no, as far as they were concerned it was a pre existing condition as my med notes said that first visit to gp was in nov 06 stating that i had first experienced pain 2.5 yrs ago.
this was true, but at the time i was advised by the staff nurse at work to simply stretch my hand out more etc, they did not recognise any rsi symptoms then. there is no record of this at work though as they swiftly got rid when people starterd coming forward with pains etc. Now at the time when i saw that nurse, i had no idea that i was going to be in such a state that i had to give up work.
When i took out the policy with Halifax, they asked the usual questions, heart probs, history of health probs etc. Of which i answered no as that was the truth. I was never asked about any pre existing conditions at the time, it was only when it came to light that they said they wouldn’t pay out that i found out about this pre-existing condition.
As i say although i had some pains at that time, i never dreamt that they would develop into this!
Die you think that i would have a valid claim?? If they had have asked me at the time i could have given them the details, but im just so angry that as well the mortgage and cc cover, they offered me the bill protector also, when i couldn’t have claimed on any of them!!
Any advice??
If you are wanting to claim on the PPI they will no doubt get out of this as they could say this is a pre existing condition and you could argue it and get notes etc from your docs.
Lots of experts on here to advise you though so I would perhaps wait for their views.

Just had a look at my documents of my loan with black horse and just realised that i'm paying £93.16 a month just for ppi over the length of the loan costing me a whopping £11,179 over ten years. i'm thinking of sending a letter of the cancel the ppi and claim back over being mis-sold it in the first place, was told at the time that i would struggle to get the loan without it.
i cant believe they would quite happly take all that money in the first place
i'll keep you updated on how it goes?
ps anybody had dealings with black horse??0 -
Yes, see my post above - they are a nightmare ;-)0

Hi, I have tried to claim on the PPI, and they have said no due to the pre-existing condition and it being a chronic condition. I dont know what to try claim for, ie what angle on the ppi, if that makes sense.
probably a stupid question, but if halifax havent cashed my £1 postal order, is there any way i can check if they have?? i didnt send the ltter recorded delivery sp am kicking myself nowPlease be nice to all moneysavers!

Hi all, esp Showergirl and Natalie 6999,
I have received a letter from the fos today saying that TPF have agreed to settle on a goodwill basis and i have to send the acceptance letter and they will forward to TPF and i should receive payment within 8 weeks.
All in all its taken stage 1 and stage 2 letters and then complaining to the fos for them to pay up. Didnt even have to go to an adjudicator.
Happy days:beer:
Well done Deborah, congratulations.......:T  .
Onwards and upwards....:T :A .
