I would ask them to send you a full detailed written breakdown and see what that shows.
Contact them by ringing and sending a short letter to request for this, then this way you will know how this was worked out and to make sure nothing is amiss.;)
Thanks again Di, I feel more positive now knowing that I am getting somewhere, albeit a little slower than I would have likedbut I feel I am getting somewhere now.
I have sent them a letter freshly typed up thanks to your suggestions and help and will be taking a wee walk to the local shop for a stamp and post it on the way back from the shop. I will keep you posted x:jLiving Life to the Full0 -

If it is going to reduce it then I suppose I have no choice but the two I paid off are our money so we are entitled to get that back? God I was happy there for a minute then thought oh god!
There is a thread here and natweststaffmember who is quite knowledgeable has answered it so I would have a read. I would also agree that if you still owe money on a debt plan then I would think that any redress would be used to reduce the balance.

What a nice surprise I got when I came home tonight. I sent a letter to Halifax re the loans I had with them 2 current 2 paid off. In their letters they state they are willing to uphold the complaint with my current one and put me back in the position I was in had I not taken out PPI, the 2nd one current didnt have PPI which I wasnt sure about but after checking documents in house they are correct.
The two I paid off they are willing to settle also with 8% interest and pay this within the next month woo hoo what a result!
Think it should be just under £4,000 if not a littl more....
but have a query..... they say if I have current loans they will use this to offset can I ask them to send me a cheque or do they have to do this?0 -
:T:T:T:T:Twell done to you, you deserve it :j:j:j i am so pleased for you:j:jif its taken off your dmp i know its a bummer but you won in the end:j and at least this will make less for you to pay back in the long run. look into this a bit more and you never know if you do what di says you may a bit back to you, fingers crossed for you and good luck with the other two xxxx
Thanks Amersall I have written them a letter anyway and will see what they have to say on it. If they pay the current one towards my DMP then fine but the other 2 have been settled and they should be able to send me a cheque for that amount. I will wait and see I have come this far so no pain no gain as they say lol:jLiving Life to the Full0 -
Hi, please can I have some comments on my ppi, (but not sure if I am posting in correct place)
Nov 2007 I remortgaged on the phone I was then transferred to sort out the insurances I did explain my husband was a contract worker working through agencies and paid through an umbrella company. Sept 2008 I fell & broke a bone in my foot while going to work I made a claim and was paid 40% income protection, My husbands contracts haven't flowed like they used to and we have now realised he has the onsets of alzheimers I tried to make a claim and have been told because he hasnt been in continuous work for 6 months he is not eligible to claim, I did inform the salesperson of his work in 11/07. He was never in continuous work there were usually breaks between each contract. how should I play this I feel that if he isn't eligible then I should have had all the eligibility and they now owe me the remaining 60% of the time I was unable to work.I would appreciate any advice on this.0 -

Hello and welcome.;)
So sorry to hear of your issues here.
I would personally have a go at complaining and reclaiming on this if I were you, there is no harm in doing so, with the reasons you have give them 8 weeks to respond in full.
You write to the ones who arranged and sold you the finance, and do not worry about writing down the amounts.
Keep at them until they either resolve in your favour, or until they issue you with the final decision which should also enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome.
Post as well by recorded delivery - this is your proof of posting.
The link below is very useful, of Martin's reclaiming guidelines with templates and a checklist of mis selling reasons, check them as well in case you have more to add that may also apply to you.
You can use the templates if you want to or as a guide with your own words.

I think this would be best answered by Dunstonh as this is regarding mortgage PPI and slightly different. I will try and bump it for you if I see dunstonh on.
Thanks for the nod. I dont actually monitor this thread as its discussion rather than individual cases most of the time. So, I wouldnt have seen it had you not prompted me.Nov 2007 I remortgaged on the phone I was then transferred to sort out the insurances I did explain my husband was a contract worker working through agencies and paid through an umbrella company. MPPI doesnt have the same scale of issues that loan/credit card PPI has. However, the same eligibility requirements exist, as they do on all insurances when sold under advice. It is on the onus of the seller to make sure you are eligible. You clearly were but your husband wasnt. So, in that case, he should have either been sold a PHI (many mortgage advisers/clerks dont have access to PHI as it is mainly an financial adviser product) or not sold anything that covers him with it being 100% in your name.
You should put in a complaint about not being eligible from the start and that it should have been 100% in your name.
You should ask them to:
1 - remove your husband, put you on at 100% from the start and increase the payout you had (remember the correction should be backdated, so if they re-issue the cover to the same level/premium with 100% you only, then you are entitled to a greater payout when you claimed).
OR
2 - refund the portion of premium from the start that was applicable to your husband and correct the policy so its only in your name.
Option 2 is the most likely but no harm in asking for option 1 as well.
You dont have to write war and peace in your complaint letter. Short single page complaints work the best with you bullet pointing the key issues. Indeed, how you wrote the post here is perfectly fine to be put in your complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
