Sorry i forgot to add that the initial loan was taken out in 1999. The second one a few years after that. The third one was taken a few years after consolidating the other two. I paid the loan off in 2007ish.

    Do i have a case?

i am also in the process of reclaiming for closed loans over 6 years old. you can call up the bank and ask for your account numbers for the closed account (not saying why you need then) from here you can start the claim. If they refuse to give you this under the data protection act you can legally require all informaton kept on yourslef for that period. There is a template letter somewhere on here to find that info - someone may need to help me out with it though! :)

    good luck

Hi, Im new to this so please bare with me.
I had taken ppi and now trying to reclaim. But i have lost my paperwork. I was with HFC bank. I have been calling them for them the past few weeks to get copies for my loans but this has resulted in nothing.

I would like to add that the loans have been paid off now!

    What should i do?

    Hello and welcome.;)

You could start by requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR), the link to the template is below, they have 40 days to comply, and there is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this.
However, you may only receive your data, of all they hold on you going back as far as 6 years, but with some banks, they have supplied data going back from earlier years.

They do not always supply the agreements (CCA's) with the SAR requests, where you can try to request for these separate by just writing a simple letter to request for this, and enclose a £1 payable by postal order or cheque payment, this should get to you by 12 days.
If you require 2 agreements then enclose 2 separate payments for this.

You may though, if you no account numbers have to give them as much information as possible, such as any change of address if different when you taken the finance out, also give your date of birth etc, and of course any different surnames, in order to make tracking down easier.

You may even find your account numbers on old bank statements, when the loans were paid out of your bank account, the account numbers should be shown next to the loan repayments.

Good luck and in regards of reclaiming check this link here below, and if you require any help, please just ask.;)

  • Ok so ive just written a plain letter to them asking them for the loan agreements. It wasnt a threatening letter as i want to keep that option open for later. Ive written a letter because that's what they have just told me. I am also waiting for a "manager" to call me. I will give them two weeks to reply to my first letter.

  • too late, ive already sent the letter. next one will be recorded though.

Out of interest, should i go through this whole process (getting the documents, then applying for a ppi refund) myself or should i get one of those ppi refund companies to do it for me?
  • Hi,

I've had a Lloyds TSB credit card since April 2006. Only last month I called them regarding PPI on my account since i didn't know I had it (never paid full attention to my statements ). Looked set to have wasted a lot of money on it over 3 years - then i found this place!

So the question is, using the template letter on this site, which would be the best example to use in my situation. I don't remember signing up for it, but it was 3 years ago. Do people lie, or would you simply say i don't rememeber asking for it, or just you didn't realise what it was and just agreed?

    Many thanks
    Adam

Trust me, do it yourself unless you really like the idea of giving your money away to another company. ;)

Say whatever you think is true to your situation. You can't really say the wrong thing, if you think it was mis sold because of A or B but not C then say it was mis sold because of A and B. ;)

Ok thats the path i'll take then. Lets see if the manager calls me back or if i get a response to my letter!

Do not worry, you can always ring them in a day or 2 to make sure this is received.
I agree with Melorablack on this, I would not go to the claiming companies, I almost did and withdrawn in the end, and if you do this yourself, if successful then you will get to keep all your refund.;)
