    Hi,

I've had a Lloyds TSB credit card since April 2006. Only last month I called them regarding PPI on my account since i didn't know I had it (never paid full attention to my statements ). Looked set to have wasted a lot of money on it over 3 years - then i found this place!

So the question is, using the template letter on this site, which would be the best example to use in my situation. I don't remember signing up for it, but it was 3 years ago. Do people lie, or would you simply say i don't rememeber asking for it, or just you didn't realise what it was and just agreed?

    Many thanks
    Adam

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Quick question - in 2000 I took out a Topshop storecard with GE Capital, a Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams one in 2002, and I had PPI on my Barclaycard until I cancelled it in 2007 or so. I no longer have details of the account numbers on my storecards, as they are long paid off (through CCJs - I know, I know). What chance do I have of reclaiming this and what do I need to do if I don';t have the numbers?

    Hi there

I would give it a go anyway with your reasons, if you no agreement, do you have the statements at all? this should show your account numbers?

If not then write to request the send you a copy of your agreement, enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, and tell them you look forward to receiving this by 12 day, post by recorded delivery.

Hopefully they will be able to supply this to you, but as its gone 6 years it maybe more difficult for them to retrieve this, however they should return your payment if they cannot provide this for you.

Again if you have no account numbers, when requesting for your documents give them as many details as possible to make it easier for them to track down, if you give them details of any addresses you have lived in over the years you were paying this, your date of birth, surnames etc, it all helps, good luck..

If you require help on this then please post up good luck.;)

  • oh my goodness!!!!

What a nice surprise I got when I came home tonight. I sent a letter to Halifax re the loans I had with them 2 current 2 paid off. In their letters they state they are willing to uphold the complaint with my current one and put me back in the position I was in had I not taken out PPI, the 2nd one current didnt have PPI which I wasnt sure about but after checking documents in house they are correct.

The two I paid off they are willing to settle also with 8% interest and pay this within the next month woo hoo what a result!

Think it should be just under £4,000 if not a littl more....
but have a query..... they say if I have current loans they will use this to offset can I ask them to send me a cheque or do they have to do this?

Wow fab news well done :j:beer:.

Right if you no arrears, not behind with the repayments as such and want this paid directly to you, then ask if they are willing to do this.

Otherwise this does seem to be the case lately.

If this was an offer of goodwill, and they are not actually stating they mis sold, then this does seem to be the thing they do, but do not quote on me.
Yes if they are upholding, I assume they are admitting liability of mis selling, and in my opinion I think you have a right to ask that they refund this directly to you.
Afterall, due to this you have been out of pocket, so do mention that as well, good luck and Congratulations.

  • I am in a DMP with the Loan so technically am behind but purely because of the PPI - do you think I can get away with saying that? If it is going to reduce it then I suppose I have no choice but the two I paid off are our money so we are entitled to get that back? God I was happy there for a minute then thought oh god!

    Yes Di the letter says.....

As part of my investigation into the sale of your PPI, I have considered the information available to me and having considered all of the complaint points which you have raised I have concluded the PPI on personal loan no....... may not have been appropriate for you and I am upholding your complaint in relatin to this policy...

Other letter re the two we paid off says.....
As part of my investigation into the sale of your PPI, I have considered the information available to me and having done so I have decided to pay you an amount which will put you back in the position you would have been in had you not taken the insurance on aco!!!! no....... This is done without admission of liability and in full and final settlement of your complaint about pPI on this loan.

I am not sure how much the total will be so do I write back and accept or take it further?

I would ask them to send you a full detailed written breakdown and see what that shows.
Contact them by ringing and sending a short letter to request for this, then this way you will know how this was worked out and to make sure nothing is amiss.;)
