    Hi all,

Today I phoned FOS Adjudicator re: my claim against Ocean Finance. She said that she had investigated the case and it was all ready to be relaesed but then they had instructions to put all claims against ocean finance on hold pending them making a decission about all there claims. They are having a re-think about what they are going to do...

I was wondering if this had happened to any-one else? and if there is a set time for cases to be put on hold?... or could this go on for a long time?

Any info at all will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

Hi I have two cases with FOS about Ocean that are yet to go to an adjudicator. Could this be god news or bad news?? I don't really know, I have not heard anything from the FOS about this myself.

    Hi everyone

When I took out my credit card 6/7 years ago I said it was only for emergencies. I tend to use it couple of times every few months, and when I do use it I pay off in full at the end of the month (when I get paid). I have always had PPI - although I didn't notice it at 1st (I cant remember application) when I queried it my bank said it is insurance against unemployment and that I needed it.
Seeing as I rarely use my card and never leave debt outstanding on it, is PPI of any benefit to me?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul and Welcome.;)

You say you did not notice the PPI at first?
If this is the case it was possibly mis sold to you anyway as they added it without your knowledge.

And I see your point as well.
For more information on PPI reclaiming check here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You will find a list of checklist of mis selling reasons, if they also occur to you as well as your above stated reasons then write to them, they have 8 weeks in full to respond.
There are also templates in the above link, use them as a guide if you want to.
    Post by recorded delivery.

Keep at them until they resolve in your favour, or until they issue you with the final decision, in the final decision they should give details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of your complaint.

Good luck and post up for further help if required and please keep us posted.;)

  • Hi,

Was wondering if anyone thinks i may have apotential case for a missell?

In 2006 i tookout a Personal Loan with Northern Rock for £16k, i beleive over 5 years, and took PPI. After a few months i relaised the repayments were unmanagble and phoned NR to see if i could extend the length of the Loan to 10 years to reduce the monthly payments.

This was fine, however I did have to take an addional £500 on top of the existing loan as part of the refinancing. Again PPi was offered and I accepted, however on the same call after the Loan had been agreed, but before I had signed any paperwork, I asked if I could have a quote without the PPI, to which I was told the application would have to be reprocessed, with another credit search being performed and the potential that the second application could be declined.

As the new monthly payment was a lot more managable and as I was also in the process of remortgaging, i decided I would be better just taking what was offered.

However lookign back now, and at other theads it would seem that I shoudl have had the option to opt out of the PPI with no effecton my application. Im guessing the PPI is around £50 a month on top of the repayment and im now 3 years down thre line with it, and obviously would like to know if it is possible to remove it now without having to refiance elsewhere, and if id be entitled to any rebate based on the above?

    Hello and welcome.;)

In my opinion I think you have a case here and yes you should have been given the option as well.
    Go for it I say.

Write to them with your reasons, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, keep at them until they resolve or send you a final decision, the final response should also give you details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of your complaint.
