PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

  • Hello,

If a credit card (Goldfish for example) has been taken over by another issuer, who would it it be best to contact with regards to reclaiming PPI? In my situation the PPI was cancelled prior to the change of issuer, so would it be advisable to contact the previous issuer, or the current one who took over the account? What would happen if the PPI had been paid (and continued to be paid) following a change in card issuers - would both have to be contacted?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Hello there.;)

I did leave you a post just now as well but not to worry.

I would personally write to both of them just to cover yourself, one of them are bound to get back and tell you its the other, but be ahead of yourself here.
Make them both aware that you have wrote to the other, so that they don't try fobbing you off.;)

Hope this helps and more information on reclaiming check here:

good luck and please ask for further help if required.

    Hi all,

Today I phoned FOS Adjudicator re: my claim against Ocean Finance. She said that she had investigated the case and it was all ready to be relaesed but then they had instructions to put all claims against ocean finance on hold pending them making a decission about all there claims. They are having a re-think about what they are going to do...

I was wondering if this had happened to any-one else? and if there is a set time for cases to be put on hold?... or could this go on for a long time?

Any info at all will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks
I think this once happened with Firstplus too and then there was a rush of FIrstplus redress's. I think they will be coming to some sort of arrangement with Ocean re complaints maybe.
  • Not sure if you got my last message as it doesn't seem to be posting di3004

The card is Virgin and i've just checked over some statements and lo and behold, there it is, 'Payment Protection Cover'.

When i signed up for the card about 3 years ago now i had to tick/untick the box for it, but found the whole thing very confusing - i assume their task was complete!

    Any ideas?

    Hi Alastair
Thanks for pm and hope you received my response as well.

Sorry for the delay in responding.;)

I used to think that the insurance was all part of the finance, if this is the case they possibly added the ppi without your knowledge.

Write to them and use the link I posted on the pm.;)

And do please post up for further help if required, good luck.

  • Hi everyone

When I took out my credit card 6/7 years ago I said it was only for emergencies. I tend to use it couple of times every few months, and when I do use it I pay off in full at the end of the month (when I get paid). I have always had PPI - although I didn't notice it at 1st (I cant remember application) when I queried it my bank said it is insurance against unemployment and that I needed it.
Seeing as I rarely use my card and never leave debt outstanding on it, is PPI of any benefit to me?

    Thanks,
    Paul
