The alliance and leicester said that the PPC was applied after a telephone conversation on July 23rd 2003, although they 'are not required to record 100%' of their calls. Since i was on holidays and only returned on this date, should i ask them to prove this before i go to the ombundsman?
Please help me as my head is fried!!!
    Cheers

    Hi ctnboi,

I had the same response from MBNA that you've had from Alliance & Leicester regarding the telephone call for the PPC. The adjudicator in my case who upheld my complaint actually noted that the then Insurance Ombudsman noted as far back as 1999 that recording of insurance sales calls was important & represented good industry practice. The fact they wouldn't & probably couldn't supply the alleged telephone conversation (which I knew they wouldn't provide because I remember it clearly & the guy told me I had to have the insurance), that was a major part that went against them & added to the reasons for upholding my complaint.

Morning and thanks for the welcome.

I was missold; I took a £4,500 loan over 12 months in December 2003 and was told at the point of applying that I could only take that much money out over the term if I took the PPI as I wasn't starting permanent work (which I had a contract for) until September 2004.

Not withstanding that I repaid the outstanding loan in full at 6 months, I still feel that I have a case for reclaiming (as I had to pay the PPI in full as well).

I've used the standard letter on here as a template, I'll just add some padding to say that I have sent the letter to two branches and list the reasons why.

I'll record what the outcome is.

PS photocopies of the original documents that HSBC gave to me a couple of months ago will be fine won't they as documentation?

    Hi there

Then good luck with all here, and keep at them, if they do not resolve this for you by the first letter then write back until they send you the final decision, you should have the opportunity to take to the FOS if they do not resolve this in your favour.;)

    Yes the documents are fine.;)

Hi eclic, it makes not difference to what I know of.;)

If you want to reclaim charges there is also a charges thread for this, I would keep it separate to the PPI side of things, as this is different, so you will receive more back then.;)

Yes Gumbi, I see your point and that makes things a bit more hopeful, would we get a letter to say Picture are in Default do you think? Thanks for keeping us all going on this long slog Gumbi you're a star. xx

    Pinknico....
I would imagine so, although I'm sure we'll see it on the website or hear on the grapevine long before we get anything in the post.

It will be interesting to see if my MP gets a reply back from the Treasury about the whole "repossesions whilst we are waiting for the FSCS" thing as I think this would be a major victory for the consumer and might deter other companies from using the outragous delaying tactics we've seen recently!

It would give us all the chance to blow a collective raspberry at the finance companies that have been taking us all for a ride for so long :p

  • Dear all,

Sorry if I have asked this before but what is the best form of action in regard to the issue I have with Natwest.

I no longer have loan account numbers for the 4 loans I took out with Natwest over a 4 year period which ended in 2006. I asked for this paperwork 8 weeks ago and have still not recieved a reply despite snding a letter of complaint by registered letter two weeks ago.

    Any ideas?
