I am delighted that I made a complaint, it was investigated and I won! The money would only be spent on needs rather than wants anyway so it might as well go towards decreasing my loan. Only another £7,100 and 4 years to go!!!

I'm pretty sure they have to give you the money back directly if there are no arrears.
They have to put you in the position you were in if you hadn't taken out thee ppi in the first place. which means that money would have been yours never theirs and I doubt you would have paid a lump some off your loan unless you were totally paying it off.
I would write and ask them again.0 -
Got a letter from Freedon Finance this morning saying that the letter I sent on 26th February they recieved on 8th April they are now dealing with my complaint and will write with a full response by 3rd June 2009 if the investigation is not completed by 3rd June they will write informing me that the invstigation is continuing and explain when they will expect to issue a final response.Because they had fobbed me of at the begining I told them that I wanted a response by 30/04/09 should I just wait until the 3rd and then take it further.
Thanks everyone for all the advice.:T
Hi weanng
You have a choice here, as their timescales are that of 8 weeks and they have not come back to you on this or resolved this, you can take it further with the FOS, but as its only a few days after they state they will respond to you then, it may be worth just waiting until then, hopefully they will get back with a good outcome, fingers crossed.;)XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi,
I claimed my PPI insurance back from nationwide and got a huge £2500 cheque through! was very impressed.. I had a little help though, my friend passed me onto a company that not also helped me do this but helped me get my Credit Card and Loan balance wiped clear, and claim compensation because the product was miss sold to me. If you want more information vist clientreview.org
They help all sorts of people in financial situations and claiming back balances on loans, credit cards, and car finance as there is a flaw in the contract, exactly the same as the bank charges. It worth looking into as I am now debt free, it worked for me.
Thanks

I still have the agreement and everything so I'll go ahead and start the process. I'll let you know how I get on. I imagine it's going to be a long and difficult process as I'm dealing with HSBC!
Again, thanks for the replys!!!

I have been reading these threads with interest ... we have a First Plus loan taken out 3 years ago with PPI .. I was led to believe that if we hadn't claimed on it in 5 years we could claim it back which is around 10K .. what I need to know is if anyone else has actually had this repaid by FP after the 5 year period ... if it is unlikely that they will pay out should I make a mis-selling claim now and see what I can get ?? I also didn't realise at the time that it would end after 5 years and that only first named could make a claim so I am not even covered!0

Hi there
As you may see by browsing these threads there are a huge amount of complaints in regards of FP, I'm sure they will post up with some info for you, but many would suggest going for the mis selling.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

You're right, I would not have paid a lump sum off it (mainly because I can't afford to). If it was a huge amount like £2,000 then maybe I would complain more about getting the choice of what to do with my money but the way I see it now is I would only spend it on other bills or maybe even something I shouldn't (like a new telly on the spur of the moment!!) so I'm as well reducing my debt. It's money that I had no idea I would even be able to claim before I discovered this website so basically, it was gone. It's a bonus that it only took me one letter, they were reasonably quick and quite apologetic and I can reduce my loan by £600.
Hmm... just thinking that a new telly might be nice...Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76
300 271 payments to go.House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

Hello All
This is my first post and just after any general advice that any of you good people could pass on.
I am currently trying to reclaim PPI from the three organisations above.
Alliance and Leicester - After sending just one template letter they agreed a refund of my PPI. However no sign of the cheque and from reading other posts I believe they are holding onto the cash for as long as possible to make up their losses.
Nationwide - Trying to reclaim PPI on a credit card. I am now onto the second letter and they contacted me saying they are re assessing my complaint. Awaiting to hear from them (more than likely will be bad news).
AMEX - Again trying to reclaim PPI on a credit card that was sold to me over the phone. I have sent the second template letter and they stated I had no case. I am now going to go through FOS.
Just wondering if anyone has had any success with AMEX or Nationwide or have been throught the FOS with either organisation0
