Hi all, have received a reply from THINK mortgages re ppi reclaim due to miselling, they confirm that we completed a remortgage application in nov '03, where we opted for a lump sum insurance poilcy built into our mortgage advance, they no longer have a copy of this due to the time scale that has lapsed since the sale.HELP!!

I would ask them where do they get there infomation from, they must have somthing to be able to give you that info.

Love the name by the way lol;)

  • That does seem odd, as 6 years have not passed.

Hi Guys, I haven't been on here for a while - last August infact! Which was when I was trying to claim back mis-sold PPI from FirstPlus. They fobbed me off with a couple of standard letters and eventually offered me part of the PPI back but they were going to reduce my loan instead of give me the cash which didn't have any benefit to me - it was a measly amount! I posted the letter on here and with a bit of encouragement from you guys I went to the FOS. That was August/beginning of September and I have had a couple of letters from the FOS saying they were looking into it etc. I knew when I put in the complaint to the FOS they had a 6month backlog wchich was fine but when I have contacted them this morning they said it could be several more months??!!! Has anyone got any ideas how long these are actually taking at the moment? They said they have received all the info they requested from FisrstPlus and it is waiting to go to an adjudicator but I am pretty desperate for a result with this soon! Also I am still paying FirstPlus PPI!!!! Can I cancel this with FP as at least that will reduce my mothly payments a little? Any advice appreciated as always! :p

You should write to them again send it recorded delivery, and tell them that they are "legally obliged to retain information for a period of 6 yrs" after which time they can destroy it.

    Hi there,

It seems that the FOS are dealing with even higher volumes of complaints in this category more than ever.

If your struggling financially, just let them know, I know this is the issue with most these days but confirm this to them anyway just in case they may be able to consider to move it on quicker for you.

If you read through this thread you will see that many has complaints regarding FP, I am sure someone with experience of this company will be able to advise you on your best options here on cancelling, as every company and PPI cover varies in regards to cancelling, so hopefully someone will be able to post up soon to give their opinion.

Good luck and I hope you receive some good news soon from the FOS.;)

Pixie, while the PPI is still active, you are making full use of its protection. And I am sure FP will argue this point.

If you think that the PPI was mis-sold then you should cancel it, however know that by doing so you are giving up your right to the refund of premium after the five years.

I would suggest before you make any decisions that you think about it seriously, however if you have missed payments you have little or no chance of getting back the premium in five years anyway.

Do yourself a favour and take out a seperate policy, to protect your payments, you can use many Price Comparison sites to find one that would be suitable, at least if things go wrong you can fall back on that insurance, as FIRSTPLUS would most definetly not be sympathetic were you to fall behind after cancelling your policy.

Lots to consider. Think about it for a couple of days.

    Hi there
I would personally request a SAR (subject access request) if you've not done so already.
They should supply everything they have on your account(s) from the last 6 years, so you may be just about lucky to receive all that info as from your remortgage application.

Like dreamer33 says, they must have something on you.

You will find a SAR template on page 1 of this thread and other details in regards to that, if you require any further help and info, post up hun, one of us will be happy to help as much as we can.;)

    Good luck X
