hi all
My first post in MSE so apologies if I'm in wrong place, format etc...my brothers took out loan with first plus 3 yrs ago and were desperate to consolidate and reduce debt. They did not query anything about PPI and following advice on this and other sites, we asked FP to send us all info they had. They had send my brothers a letter listing out all the checks to clear out various debts and at end of letter was PPI of 26k. Next page then says what total monthly repayments are going to be without breakdown of what is for what. But on other sheets which look like downloads from system there is a breakdown which my brothers don't remember being discussed with them. I know this is not much information but could anyone advice whether we should claim for PPI as it was not explained they would be paying interest on the PPI and how much that would increase the total loan.
thanks for taking time to read this0 -
Hi all.
The post man came today with a letter from the F.O.S. containing a settlement form, which
I am requested to sign and send back to the F.O.S. in order to receive my PPI compensation
payment by the 07.04.2009.,also LTSB will pay me £200.00 for distress etc,etc , on top of PPI
compensation. I have asked the F.O.S. to obtain a break down from LTSB of the figures used
to arrive at my compensation redress, the reply was fill in the form, sign it, send it in to the
F.O.S..Once LTSB has the signed acceptance form , only then will they start to calculate the
amount of my redress.(I kid you not) I quote from F.O.S. letter; please would you sign, date
and return the attached settlement form- so that it reaches me by 07.04.2009- to confirm
your acceptance of my assessment in full and final settlement of your complaint.
I will
then ask LTSB to settle the matter with you direct. As I confirmed recently if you feel
LTSB have failed to make the correct payment to you then please let me know. If upon
Investigation I feel LTSB have made an error in the payments then I will take this up
with them.(unquote)
What to do? Sign and return the acceptance form to the F.O.S. and trust LTSB to do
the right thing by me(stop laughing at the back) or delay acceptance until all the
relevant figures including compensation sum has been sent to me. All advice welcome
I have been without the PPI premium monies and the 8% simple for quite a while, if
it takes a bit longer so be it. I don’t want to get ripped off again.
I have a copy of a letter from the F.O.S. to LTSB, under the heading named
“CIRCUMSTANCES” it states that in ****** 2000 and ****** 2002 the consumer
arranged finance with you and at the same time he took out a single premium PPI
policy on each loan, which covered his monthly loan payments if he became
unemployed or incapacitated. He borrowed an additional amount to pay for the policies. Some of the figures in respect of the borrowing would have been set out
In the loan agreements; however you have not been able to produce copies.
How can LTSB calculate my compensation redress ?, what figures are they going to
use?, they have no copies of the loan agreements to work out what is owed to me.
Sorry post is so long I just wanted to put in the relevant points. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have copies of the loan agreements up in my attic, my O/H calls me Steptoe.0 -

Hi hun
I was in the same position as you, also through the FOS with lloyds, the FOS told me I could contact lloyds direct to send me the figures, so I done that, even though I was lucky to have someone in the family to work this out for me, it did work out right in the end, but you may have to keep on at lloyds to send this to you.
Ring them as soon as you can and ask if they would be kind enough to let you know the figures.
That's the thing here and I note its the same for most in this case.
If you knew what to expect that would not be too bad, but how do they expect you to say yes if you don't have an amount to work on.
With mine it was a matter of them refunding all I had paid in plus interest, also any charges occured. (credit card ppi), so we did have something to work by.
You could accept and then hopefully receive the calculations, then if wrong let the FOS know, they then get work this out and get in touch.
Oh yes, on one of mine with another company it was a case of me receiving the wrong amount and another cheque followed and the FOS did deal with this for me, even though they closed the files.;)
Maybe others would have opinions here, but yes I do understand what you mean, good luck and well done anyway. :T

Was going to post this in my above post but do not want to confuse you.
You could ask the adjudicator, if you accept this, and later the amount you received was the wrong amount, would they be prepared to look into this for you even if the file is closed, tell them you have nothing to work by and would have to wait for a breakdown from lloyds on how this was done, you could even ask if you could send them a copy of the breakdown through an attachment email in order for them to take a look at them.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I thought I was doing so well too......
As well as first plus, I took a loan out with WF and asked for an unsecured loan and then realised it was actually secured once the paperwork was signed and I received the cheque - also the PPI on this was quite high. Am trying at the mo to get this back. ALso fell into arrears of 3 months and agreed to go on a payment plan to pay an extra £60 a month I changed my dd and on Friday I got a call saying they would be charging me if I didnt pay this months bill I told them I had changed banks but they were so rude to me and she actually put the phone down on me - I was not intending to bump them so to speak and am really angry they also called me on Saturday morning to say the same thing and I put the phone down this time - I am waiting on my new bank card coming and have told them as soon as I get this I will pay the months payment god has anyone else had problems with them? God I am going to write another letter to them and really take them to town.......gr gr am having a bad Sunday.....am working just now I do private hire on a Sunday and the phone keeps ringing so I keep saying I am not available just now I needed to have some food and am going to be leaving in 5 mins anyway......christ what do they think I am a blooming taxi?:rotfl:
